6 months have passed since the conversation between Devland and Renar, and it hasn't been easy.

All that time was spent on work after work and more work. His hands were calloused from the numerous tasks he performed daily, and his brain was drained for all the planning he had to make at night.

Though he continued to be a handyman, his relationship with Devland was way calmer now, even more than he had expected.

'Why even in January all has to be so damn snowy and cold here!!'

But obviously, a handyman is still a handyman, Renar was in fact doing the random work of measuring the various gardens of the former Grand Duchess, with the aim to help the gardener to reorganizing it.

'At first I thought that in these months something would happen within the palaces, but surprisingly no one died or anything, everyone has been fairly normal up until now.'

Indeed, nothing too out of the ordinary was happening, but perhaps it's because Renar is getting used to this environment.

"Sir, I have finished the assigned work!" He informed, running to the gardener with the paper on which the measurements were written.

"Very well young man! You may go now, your work here is done."

Renar nodded and walked outside the garden, climbing the stairs that would lead to the corridors that connect to the main palace.

For today it was Jett who took care of him, sending him around to help workers from all the four palaces.

'Everyone here is so diligent and polite that it almost doesn't seem like they're under someone like Devland. Jett sure does a good job taking care of them.'

In fact, no one took their job lightly, and mostly it was not out of fear of the Grand Duke, but because hard workers were carefully selected, commonners or not.

'This place is so incredibly clean no matter how many times I pass by! Having to clean it every day must be tough. Plus 4 palaces for 4 people sounds more and more absurd every time I think about it, this family is filthy rich on another level.'

All those precious stones and gold statues that Renar saw every day shone brighter than the sun, he always failed to ignore them.

He reached Devland's office, knocking on the door, and after being given permission to enter, he walked into the now familiar room.

"Lord Jett, I have finished the assigned work."

"Well done Lord Renar, you can go, no more help is needed here." Jett said as he was writing on a document.

"Thank you, see you tomorrow, Lord Jett." He said with a smile.

"See you tomorrow Lord Claude and Adam." He also turned to his other colleagues.

"See you tomorrow Ren!" Adam exclaimed, while Claude simply nodded with a smile.

Then he went in front of Devland's desk, bowing. "Now I shall take my leave, Your Grace, have a good night."

Devland nodded, he was in an extremely bad mood that day, so Renar left the room silently.

'How tired...it's just impossible to find a way to be recognized by Devland as useful.'

In fact in those 6 months Renar couldn't find even a single way to build trust with Devland, it didn't matter if he was already deemed a genius by the super villain within a week, because in the end what surprisingly matters to Devland is that he trusts his subordinates without problems.

'He must have some powerful issues to be so distrustful, tsk, but I don't even know why...I wonder why the damn author was so careless with the main villain.'

Obviously the fact that the Imperial family was trying to establish control over the Grand Duchy was already a lot, but it couldn't be the only reason, because in the end Devland was always described as 100% confident in his abilities, and not without reason.

"Ren, wait!"

"Huh?" Renar's thoughts were suddenly interrupted, and he whirled around, recognizing the loud voice. “Is there anything you need, Adam?”

"Yes, I know it's late and you just got dismissed, but I need help with something important!" He exclaimed, with a bunch of papers in hand.

Truthfully, Renar was happy to be stopped by Adam of all people, because he is the one who ensures the safety of the Grand Duke's money, ensuring that the money attributed or subtracted from the various projects is correct.

Basically he could get a peek at recent activities and use suspicious things to his advantage.

"Of course I can, it's no problem!" At the beginning it was a big problem, because everyone was on guard, but little by little everything was starting to improve.

'I'm not going to let this rare opportunity pass by, the only piece missing from this plan is to make an entrance so unignorable that Devland will make me his official assistant!'

Although his cool entrance is still a bit uncertain, Renar was confident that he would be able to stand up to his bold statements that he had said in front of Devland 6 months earlier, The future allies were ready, and the plans to improve Devland they were there too.

"Thank you very much, really." He sighed with relief. "Come, I'll explain what you have to do." Adam said, walking back towards Devland's office.

Renar nodded and went in with Adam, then sat down next to him, everyone was too tired to ask why by now.

"Look, this is the general situation: last year His Grace decided to exploit the territories of Count Cortez, you know? The one who has control over the city of Peron." Adam whispered.

Renar thought for a moment, "Mh, yes I understand, it's a city on the edge of the Empire, right?"

"Yes, as you may have already understood, Peron is very convenient for trade purposes, especially with the Empire of Yll, being directly overlooking the South Sea."

"Yes I figured, what is the task you want to give me then?" Renar asked.

“You just have to take a look at how the invested money is still well distributed, just to avoid inconveniences.” Adam explains, passing the various documents to Renar.

'Mh, I don't think it will be a problem if we're talking about this family, but checking so late is generally a mistake.'

But in any case Renar shrugged it off and started checking how the invested money was used.

But fortunately, there was already a big problem, Renar couldn't help but hold back a big happy smile.

'Thank you so much, crazy guy.'
