"Your Grace, I will accept it if you actually tell me why exactly you don't like me." Renar gulped. He couldn't go back out like this.

Truthfully, Devland wasn't someone willing to compromise. But Renar was somewhat confident that he could persuade Devland since he knew what he liked.

'So let's talk first.'

"The reason why I don't like you?"

"Yes Your Grace. Is it really because...I'm a ginger? Please tell me if there is a different reason."

Devland turned his gaze. He scanned Renar from head to toe once more.

"You..."

Renar and Claude's eyes sparkled. Claude also didn't want to search all night to find a new secretary. After making eye contact with each of them, Devland spoke.

"You've got prettier eyes than me." He says with a disturbing smile.

They both grimaced. Renar didn't know if he should be happy or cry because of how unfair the situation was.

'I knew he was a shitty bastard but I didn't know it was this bad. Seriously, at this point just tell me you don't have the time to chop off heads today! You literally have the most majestic scarlett eyes of the empire, who are even rumored to be more beautiful than the imperial family ones, so this makes absolutely no sense!'

Besides Renar's appearance today had been created through the type of dresses, hair style and postures that Devland liked about his employees.

'But now you're saying you don't like me because I supposedly got prettier eyes than yours? That's totally an excuse.' Renar chewed on his lower lip, wondering what he should do.

"What's with that look? Weren't you the one who asked? You said you would fix the problem. You looked like you really wanted to be one of my secretaries, but I guess I was wrong."

Renar thought quickly. There was no way to get out of a situation like this in the novel. He knew because he had read the book his sister gifted like it was the Bible.

'It was a mistake to be overconfident because I trusted the extra details of the novel!' But he couldn't go back now.

"Your Grace, thank you for regarding me so highly. However, you are the star of our empire, the mighty Grand Duke. My dull eyes cannot compare to your elegant, luxurious, and pure scarlet orbs. So Your Grace, please take back your words."

Renar gritted his teeth as he praised Devland's appearance as if he was some kind of god. 'It's so tiring being an ass kisser even if it's just for a minute, how the hell did I manage to do it for years in my past life!?'

Claude flapped his hands from the side, as if he was telling him to go on. Renar activated his brain to the max.

'What should I say? I can't think of anything! There is nothing to praise besides his looks. He isn't a villain for nothing, after all! Am I supposed to praise him for how smooth the blade is when he cuts someone's neck off? Or what about the time he took over an entire country because someone from that country stole something from him? Maybe that is something to praise...'

"What a pleasure to receive so many compliments at once, but you talk too much. Do you really want to be my secretary?" This was somehow a very good sign. Renar stood up tall.

"Yes, Your Grace. I want to become the shadow of the empire's star."

"You're going to become the shadow as a secretary?" He said as he tilted his head.

Renar nodded energetically. A moment of silence passed. Devland stared at Renar. He looked like he either wanted to chop his head off or laugh at him.

So Renar felt the need to explain a little more about himself. After all, self intros and self PR was necessary in 21st century Japan as well.
