"Good morning," a sweet voice whispered in my ear, and I felt my skin riddle with goosebumps. I knew that voice. I pulled in deep breaths as I kept my eyes closed, clinging to the softness of those two words. "Levi," the voice lulled quietly and my eyes shot open. This isn't real. My breaths began to quicken as my eyes began to adjust. I was in my living quarters. My room was dim, but the morning sun was peaking through my window and lighting up my ceiling.

I could feel the voice's warm body pressed next to mine, and my heart thumped wildly in my chest. She's not here. My mind was playing tricks on me again. I couldn't let it win. I closed my eyes again no matter how hard I wanted to look into hers. "Are you ignoring me?" the voice chuckled and moved around next to me. I felt the voice's warmth lay on my chest as it pressed its hand against my cheek. Don't look. She's not real. I squeezed my eyes shut as heat waved over my body. "Levi, did I do something wrong?" the voice asked softly. It was filled with such sadness. I couldn't help myself anymore. No matter how hard I pushed her out of my mind, she always came back. She haunted me, but it was better to be haunted than without her at all. I opened my eyes. Mercy was staring down at me. She was leaning over my chest with her hand caressing my cheek. Her disheveled hair made my heart swell.

Stray beams of the morning sun that peaked between my drawn curtains lit up every shade of green in her eyes. Her brows were furrowed with confusion and sadness, and even if it wasn't real I felt my heart shred at the melancholy sight of her. I just wanted her to be happy even if she was only a figment of my imagination. "You've done nothing", I assured shakily. "I'm just tired." Mercy's eyes relaxed and she let a small smile play at her lips as she looked down at me.
