{Levi's POV}

I listened intently as Mercy told me the situation, but it was hard to focus when I kept thinking about my dream, and how my son was right: she was talking about her mother. How could it be?
What I did gather, however, in my dazed state, was that the Premier had turned on us, or was manipulated by Don. He approved the thunderspears for the mission, which would bring down the Inner City, or at least most of it.
We couldn't use thunderspears. Everyone in the vicinity above ground would fall through and perish, something we couldn't risk.

Another thing that caught my attention was Mercy telling me the super soldiers would file out with the refugees, which meant they could have been wreaking havoc already

Another thing that caught my attention was Mercy telling me the super soldiers would file out with the refugees, which meant they could have been wreaking havoc already.
The refugees had been evacuated, or in the process of being evacuated, and if they slipped out along with them it was only a matter of time before they went for the government officials and civilians.
My eyes widened the more Mercy spoke and I quickly pushed off the door and headed out of the lunchroom.
"Where are you going?" She asked me as I stalked toward Hange's quarters.
"To tell Hange," I said firmly and she quickly put a hand on my shoulder and pulled me back.
"Armin is already telling them as we speak," she said with a sigh. "What we need to do now is get there. We can't wait any longer, Levi."
I stared into her verdant eyes for a moment.
The sun was high in the sky, its rays bringing out the yellow and golden fleks of her iris. The three freckles beneath her left eye showed unapologetically. Her skin was pale from the cold and the impending winter, making all of her features appear brighter. She was radiant. Her lips were plump and pink, kissed by the chill of the day.
She looked ethereal and for a moment I lost my words as my name fell from her lips.

I stared at her for too long, but I couldn't help it

I stared at her for too long, but I couldn't help it.
She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen, and she was carrying my child.
My child...
I suddenly remembered my dream.
My son, our son, had told me that she gets crushed by the rubble of the underground. I didn't take it seriously, but somehow he knew that Mercy was talking about her mother in the exact moment I woke up from sleep and went to the lunchroom. He knew. Out of all the things Mercy could've talked about, she brought up her mother which she rarely talked about and he knew.
What if it was more than my subconscious? What if it was my Ackerman blood warning me of the impending doom?
I stared at Mercy, and glanced at her stomach where our child was growing before sighing.
"Come with me," I said as I realized what I had to do.
Mercy was a crucial part of the plan, and God she deserved to be apart of the mission, but I couldn't risk it.
My son told me that everything went black after the rubble fell on her.
My gut told me this was the right thing to do.
Mercy hesitated before following behind me.
"Where... are we going?" she asked dubiously. "We need to get stocked up and-"
"I just have to show you something," I said quickly as we made our way to the prison cellar.
The same prison cell where I heard a woman might be a Titan shifter. The same prison cell where I stalked down the stairs and didn't know I would be feasting my eyes upon the most beautiful and magnificent creature to grace the earth.
The same prison cell where Mercy and I met, the same prison cell that would keep her and my child safe.
    Mercy followed close behind me.
We stopped at the entrance to the underground prison cells and I could see her body go rigid.
This was where we met, but she didn't remember it. She only remembered being held there after she went batshit crazy on everyone.
"What are we doing here?" she asked sharply and I turned to her.
"Shannon is in there," I said lowly, a lie. Shannon was in the infirmary, not in the prison cells.
"Why is he down there?" she asked skeptically as she squinted her beautiful eyes at me.
"It's your job to question him, interrogate him, get information out of him."
She stared at me for a long moment before she nodded.
We headed down the stairs and into the hallway, Mercy close on my tail.
It was dark down there. Moldy and mildew ridden. I glanced back at her as she looked around, taking it all in.
I stopped in front of an open cell as my heart began thumping out of my chest. I couldn't believe what I was about to do, but my gut feeling was too strong.
I stood in front of the cell with Mercy in front of me. She stared at me with a guarded countenance.
"Levi..." she began slowly, "what are we doing down here? Where's Shannon?"
I took a deep breath and opened my eyes before motioning inside the cell.
"We can either do this the easy way or the hard way, but one thing's for certain: your ass is going in this cell."
Mercy's eyes widened. She looked at the cell and then back to me.
