The next couple months went quicker than I expected. Mercy made my house a home by decorating and rearranging the furniture to her liking. I insisted she let me help her, but going up against a pregnant, stubborn woman was a feat of its own. Her belly grew everyday with our child, but she was such a champ and didn't let it stop her. She still attended Scout meetings and parliament. She was there to testify against the Premier who was sentenced to death for his transgressions and conspiracies. Amelia visited often. Despite the lie of her being alive, Mercy was as foreboding and forgiving as ever and allowed her back in her life. God, how she glowed. There was only so much of her I could help heal, and I think Amelia's presence filled in the cracks of the pieces I tried to put back together. Life seemed... perfect. But we still had enemies.

The year was 853. Right before our wedding, three more ships made their way to our shores and we took plenty of hostages. We interrogated them and found out more of their ways and technologies. We found out there was more than just Marley. There was a whole world, and they were all at war with each other. I was very busy with plans and helping engineer technology, and worked late most nights, but I'll never forget the night I came home to find Mercy on the floor, nine months pregnant. She went into labor around midnight, and we didn't meet our sweet baby until 2pm the next day. I watched as Mercy writhed in agony, and, God, I wanted so badly to take it from her, but I knew she was strong. Hange helped deliver our baby, and I'll never forget the feelings that coursed through me when they arrived. Mercy was panting like a dog. She had just pushed one last time and suddenly the small room filled with the wondrous cries of a newborn baby. "Wahhh! Wah! Wah! Wah!" It was the most beautiful sound I'd ever heard. I looked at Mercy who was lying there, sweating profusely and quickly knelt down to her side and took her hand. I knew the baby was okay, now it was time to check on my woman. "Hey..." I said softly with a grin. "How are you feeling?" I asked as I wiped some sweat from her forehead before kissing it. I looked into her tired eyes as she looked into mine and she gave me an exhausted smile. "Tired." "Get some rest," I said before kissing her forehead again. "I'll take care of the baby." She nodded and I went with Hange to the sink where there was a pot of warm water to clean the baby. Hange handed the little thing to me and I smiled instantly. It was a baby boy.
