18. Extra Special Care

Damian POV

When we had got home from the hospital I had insisted on carrying Erin into the house and up to our room. I had placed her carefully on the bed and put cushions around her to make sure she was comfortable.

I was aware of what I had promised her but seeing our baby on the screen and making it real had made me even more afraid of doing anything that could jeopardise the pregnancy.

I made my way to the kitchen to make us both some lunch, I was busy rummaging through the fridge and cupboards when my phone began to vibrate in my back pocket.

"Hey nightmare" I say answering the call

"Hey, how'd it go? Is everything alright? Do you have a scan picture to send me?" She asks

"It.....it was amazing I can't even begin to describe what I felt when I saw our baby" I smile "baby is doing great and I will definitely send you a picture when I have a moment"

"That's amazing news, I'm so happy for you guys" she says "how is Erin feeling?"

"Much the same as me I think, we both shed a lot of tears today" I say "it's been a highly charged emotional day so far"

"Oh this I have to see, big bad punishment crying" she laughs "please tell me she took a photo or a video"

"I don't think so and even if she did I wouldn't let her send it to you" I chuckle "just take my word for it"

"Meany" she chuckles "well give Erin my love and I will see you soon"

"Yeah about that I don't know what to do" I sigh "I just want to be here, to protect them both, make sure nothing happens. The idea of not being here if something did doesn't sit well with me"

"I understand you are bound to worry and want to be cautious" she says "Talk about it with Erin she how she feels, and if she wants to you to go back to work listen to her do not start an argument she does not need stress"

"Oh I know exactly what she needs but im too scared to give it to her if you catch my drift" I say

"Yeah I catch it" she says "all I'm saying is sex deprived hormonal pregnant woman I would not want to be you. You know you won't hurt the baby right. It's not like your some genetic freak of nature and your going to be poking it's head" she laughs

"I know that but I'm not always gentle when it comes to that plus I'm heavy" I sigh "I just don't want.......I don't want to lose this baby Rhea"

"Then learn to be gentle" she says "learn together she will guide you trust me"

"Thanks nightmare" I smile

"Anytime now go take care of your family" she says before ending the call

Settling on soup I start warming it up and butter some crusty rolls to go with it. I also make a pot of fresh tea and add that to the tray.

When it's ready I take it upstairs and find Erin right where I left her.

"Ah good you didn't move" I smile "I've brought soup, bread and tea" I say placing the tray down.

"I couldn't you put me in the centre of the bed and wedged me with cushions" she chuckles "I do need the loo though"

"Here let me help you up" I say lifting her off the bed and walking towards the door

"I can walk to the bathroom D" she smiles

"Oh right sorry" I say putting her I down "I just........."

"Want to take care of me I know" she smiles leaning up and kissing my lips "I won't be long"

While I wait I rearrange the bed so we can sit on it together. When she returns I watch intently as she gets back on the bed and gets comfortable.

Placing the tray on the bed I sit beside her and pass her a bowl and a some bread.

"Smells good" she says breaking off a piece of bread and dipping it in the soup

"I know I promised you something but I'm really nervous mi amor" I sigh "I know how I can be and that I'm a heavy guy and I'm worried"

"I understand" she says "how about when you feel ready, we take it slow, take our time and see what happens"

"I love you" I say kissing her forehead "thank you for being so understanding"

"Your not the only one who is scared" she says "I'm scared to death of letting you down again"

"Hey you never let me down mi amor, it wasn't your fault" I soothe "whatever happens I will still love you, I will still be here and we will get through it together. But I have a good feeling about this, I think this time it's going to work out for us"
