Erin POV
As we made our way to the hospital for our next scan we were both nervous but I had made a promise to myself that if everything was still fine at this scan that I would finally allow myself to get excited about this baby........our baby and maybe just maybe I would allow myself to start buying things.
"You ok mi amor?" He asks giving my thigh a gentle squeeze as he drives
"Yeah just hoping for the best, and that baby co operates today" I say placing my hand on top of his
"Maybe we can persuade the little one" he says moving his hand from my thigh to my bump "Hey in there, mami and papi are dying to know if you are a boy or are girl. We're going to love you unconditionally no matter what but do you think you could let us in on your secret today?" He says gently
"You really think that will work?" I chuckle
"We'll soon find out" he says parking up the car "you ready?"
Nodding I get out of the car and Damian walks around to meet me. He places a hand on my lower back as we walk towards the entrance. I place my arm round his waist and I can feel how tense he is.
"It's going to be fine" I say softly as I rub his back
"Yeah I know" he says kissing my hair
It doesn't take long to get checked in or to be called into the scan room. I get myself ready and on to the bed under Damians watchful gaze and once I'm comfortable he takes a seat beside me and takes hold of my hand.
"Alright let's see how things look today" the doctor says squeezing the gel on to my tummy and moving the wand around "there we go, baby is healthy heartbeat is strong and oh.....oh dear" he says as he begins to laugh closely followed by Damian
"Is...is our baby doing what I think it's doing?" I ask
"It looks like it" Damian laughs "it looks like baby is giving us the middle finger, if it weren't for the fact that it's laying differently I would have said baby was answering my question"
"Well we certainly know who they are taking after" I chuckle
"Oh because you've never done anything like that in your life huh" he smiles kissing my temple
"I don't know what you mean" I mutter turning my gaze back to the screen and the sight that had greeted us all
"OK do we want to know what we are having?" The doctor asks
"You can see?" Damian asks
"Sure can" the doctor smiles
"Please go ahead" I say
"You are going to be parents to a little girl" he smiles
"A daughter" I hear Damian say and when I turn I see tears running down his face just like the first time he saw our baby "I'm going to be a girl dad" he smiles
"Yeah you are and she's going to adore you" I smile "I'd been so sure it was a boy"
"Maybe next time" he says kissing my hair
"Next time?" I say looking at him
"Yeah we can have more.......only if you want to that is" he says "sorry I shouldn't have said that we haven't talked about it I....."
"Shhh it's fine" I say placing my finger on his lips with a smile "I would love to, but let's see how we go with this little lady first, I think she is going to be a bit of a madame she clearly has an attitude already" I chuckle
"That's good we don't want her to take no sh......."
"Don't you dare what she is doing right now is bad enough" I say cutting him off "she doesn't need to learn words like that"
"Oh yeah sorry" he smiles "how would you feel about starting the nursery?" He asks
"I'd like that" I smile "it's time we started preparing for her"
"And thinking of a name" he says looking at the screen "we haven't let ourselves do anything yet but I think it's time now, we know she is alright"
"I agree" I smile "I want to be excited I don't want to be afraid anymore"
"I'll go get your pictures if you want to clean up" the doctor says leaving the room at the same time as Damians phone rings
"Hey nightmare" he says rolling his eyes and I know what she is calling for. I listen as he tells her it's a girl and then I hear a loud scream and excited chattering from his phone and I can't help but laugh.
"Alright I'll see you in a few days" he laughs before ending the call "well she is definitely happy" he smiles
"I know I could hear" I say getting off the bed
"Here we are, I will schedule your next scan and send you the appointment" the doctor smiles "enjoy the rest of your day"
"Come on mi amor let's go shopping" Damian says placing his arm around my shoulders
"Shopping?" I ask
"Yeah for Little Miss Attiude" he smiles "we have to make up for lost time and she needs a lot"
"Throw in lunch and it's a deal" I smile
"Like I would let my family starve" he says unlocking the car "you can have whatever you and the baby want just not my oreos when we get home"
"I already told you......"
"Yeah yeah sure" he laughs "the baby ate them I know"
