Martin PoV

Some other people came through the portal, chatting to each other, and I assumed they were the rest of the relief squadron. Mello went over to them and started giving out orders, leaving me and my friend in the corner with a shy-looking guy.
"Dag. Ben je Arjen?" [Hi. Are you Arjen?] Tijs asked, trying to keep his head bowed so that the other guy wouldn't recognise him, though it was kind of pointless.
"Zijn jullie echt?" [Are you for real?] He questioned, looking pretty awestruck.
"Tijs, don't try and hide. He knows who we are, you're just making it awkward for all of us."
From the doorway, Susanne called
"Clear the room! The medics are here! And I want to see everyone in the briefing room in 60, OK? Don't forget!" Everyone started filing out of the room. Mello came over, he had switched out his outfit at some point and was now wearing the helmet I was more used to.
"They're not letting anyone stay in here, so we're gonna go get you guys some dorms." He announced and let us to an office area not far away, where he took an Ipad from a Walker behind the reception desk.
"Having a good day, #1?" They asked
"Hell nah, K got shot and now I'm not allowed to see my boyfriend until these three are on the system." He started tapping on the screen, clearly not knowing what he was doing.

After 10 minutes of trying and failing to create accounts for us, a girl came through the door.
"Give me the datapad, Mello." She said, holding out her hand.
"Ise! Where's Alan? How's Ken?" She ignored his questions and made a grabby motion for the tablet. He reluctantly handed it over and she tapped a couple of times, then gave it to Tijs to fill out a questionnaire. When he finished, she tapped it a couple more times.
"You two good with sharing a room?" I nodded
"Ok. Martin, you fill out this form, I'm gonna go check which rooms are free." She handed me a different Ipad and I started answering the questions on the screen, while she was talking to the walker in... Norwegian, I assume.

After a while, she entered something on the Ipad in her hand and turned to us.
"Tijs, you're online. You done with that datapad, Garrix?" I nodded, handing back the Ipad (datapad?) which she quickly edited something on before giving me a thumbs up.
"Hey, Arjen!" She called, and the younger Dutch guy turned.
"Do you want to share a dorm with some other Dutch people?" He nodded vigorously. She handed him one of the datapads and the  started talking to the receptionist again, who replied with a sentence that contained a lot of numbers. She nodded and patiently waited for Arjen to give the datapad back, then typed in a number.
"They're all online, Mello, you good to go find Alan" He quickly left, leaving us with the young girl, and we started walking while she explained the code of conduct.

"Ok. Basic rules while you're here: no flying in the corridors, not that that's exactly a problem for you yet, no swearing, no fighting other walkers. No alcohol or drugs, and make sure you include everyone, especially the younger kids, we're not letting them onto the battlefield so they're a bit cooped up in here. Arjen, your dormmates will tell you any I've missed. Oh, and there's an unofficial dress code- you'll find a copy of the rule book in your dorms."

We dropped Arjen off with a group of other Dutchmen and one of their girlfriends who eagerly took him in, and although the young  girl looked surprised that they barely recognised her, she didn't bring it up until we were halfway down the hall.
"I'm surprised they didn't say anything, y'know. Usually people are like 'oh my god hi 19013! Can I get a picture?' Or something like that. Maybe we've been in here long enough it's just normal to see me now?" I paused
"Hang on, woah, backtrack, you're 19013?"
"Yeah? What do you mean?" She reached up to rub at her eyes and they widened in shock.
"Oh shit. Yeah, no mask. OK, can see the confusion there. Guess you know what I look like now?" She pulled us down a side corridor, checking noone was looking before pushing a button on her collar. A helmet a lot like the ones the rescue team were wearing, but in black and red, appeared, covering her face.
"That's better. Masks aren't compulsory, but most people wear them. This place is a pain for me, Ken, Mello and the boys- if we forget our mask in the morning or call each other by our real names we're running the risk of being exposed to the whole place." She groaned and led us down the corridor, continuing our walk down several sets of stairs.

After a while, we started passing doors more frequently, and Iselin kept pausing, looking at them, then moving on.
"This is your room." She said eventually, pointing to a door.
"Mine's just down the hall. 438, if you need to come find me at any point." I looked at the door. There was no handle or push panel.
"How do we get in?" She smiled
"Lesson one on surviving in the Walker Centre; all the security doors are biometric controlled." She walked slightly down the tunnel to her own room, gesturing for us to follow her, then placed her hand on a metal plate by the entrance and the door slid to the side with a slight swoosh.
"See? I would open yours just to show you, but only you two can open it at the minute." Tijs looked at his hand, then at the plate by the door and shrugged, putting his palm on it. Our door swung open and he walked inside, letting it close behind him. I did the same, walking through the doorway into the small room, Ise sneaking in somehow behind me.
"You've got the room to yourselves,  bathrooms are just down the corridor. Any belongings you brought can go in the lockers and I'll leave you to fight out who gets top bunk. Given its already quarter to seven, I'll meet you outside in five to show you the cafeteria." Then she left the room, her drone floating behind her.

I looked around the room; there was a bunk bed, two lockers and a sink, all made of the same grey metal, and in the corner were two bags and two boxes, along with a note

You'll need these if you want to blend in... have fun naming them.
Iselin

We put our bags in the lockers (even they were biometrically operated. Oh, and they swallowed your stuff) before sitting down to look through the bags left for us. The rucksacks contained a uniform like the one Alan and his crew had been wearing when the came to get us, along with a walker hoodie and some cargo pants, and the boxes contained an AW logogram that I recognised as a deactivated drone, alongside a note that said

Drone tutorial: All falls down- 2:57

"How's that supposed to help?! Fuck it, I'm calling Ise." I pulled my phone from my pocket and dialed the teens number. After a couple of rings, she picked up and asked me what was wrong.
"What does this mean?" I asked, putting the slip of paper in front of the camera. She burst out laughing.
"Whoever wrote that's got a sense of humour. No, just pick up the logo and throw it. Watch" She set the camera down on the shelf by her sink and called some commands to her drone. A loud clunk came from the other side of the room. She sighed and walked out of the camera frame for a minute, coming back with a black logo like the one I was holding. She carelessly tossed it into the air and it transformed into the drone.
"I probably shouldn't have got him to shut down on that side of the room, he fell down the back of the radiator..." She chuckled.
"Anyway, if there's anything else you need to know, there's a manual in the inside of the case lid, the charger and other stuff is under the drone. Bye!" She hung up the call.

Tijs shrugged and took one of the drones, throwing it and watching it transform in fascination.
《Owner- Tiësto, assign drone name to unit》 the robot said.
"I think you have to name it, Tijs..." I muttered. He thought for a minute then whispered something to the drone.
《Name assigned》The drone span around before flying up and hovering at Tijs' head height.
"Your turn, Marty." I grabbed the other drone from the box, writing something on the lid before I threw the drone.
《Owner- Martin Garrix. Assign drone name to unit》Came the same voice
"GRX" I said to it
《Name assigned》it replied and flew to my head
"Tijs, come on, Ise'll be waiting for us!" I called, walking towards the door, but my drone stayed in the same spot.
"How the hell did she get hers to follow her? Is there a remote or something?" I asked, looking in the box. Sure enough there was a remote control, which I took out, running my fingers over the joysticks.
"I can work with this..."
There was a loud banging on the door
"Are you two coming or what? I've not eaten since breakfast!" Ise called from the hall.
"One second, 19013." I shouted, hurriedly finding the release button for the door to let the teen in. She chuckled when she saw the remote
"So you didn't find out about voice controls yet? You can just tell it to follow you and it will. We don't really use the remotes any more, though they still hand them out."
"So I just- Follow me?" I turned to the drone, but nothing happened.
"No, you have to use its name or it doesn't recognise the command" She explained demonstrating with her own drone.
"Ok, so just- GRX follow me?" This time the little robot tailed me as I moved around the room, changing to match my pace and direction.
