#28187/ Martijn PoV

I was glad to have gotten out of the room. Alan had pulled his 'I'm the leader of an entire fucking army' attitude out of nowhere, and that's when you know you're completely fucked. I looked around for Iselin, knowing that she wouldn't have gone too far, and quickly located her nearby on top of one of the other stacks of shipping containers. She had her legs swinging over the edge, a datapad in hand.
"Hey Martijn." She muttered, not looking up from the screen.
"Tim's fucked, isn't he." I stated, sitting down next to her.
"Yep," she popped the 'p', finally looking up from her files,
"But I haven't heard any screaming yet, so that's a good sign, I guess."
I hummed lightly and pulled my own datapad out, playing a random movie that I wouldn't actually watch.
"How- How are you actually, Ise? You seem overworked and overstressed, I don't want you to burn out."
She finally sighed, and set her datapad down on the roof.
"Honestly, Martijn, I don't fucking know anymore. We've been here for long enough that I'm not sure how I'm going to function without the schedule, and I mean God knows I can't go back to music now, so... what the fuck do I do when we get out of this hole."
She was silent for a couple minutes, then paused.

"I'm going to go to a KFC."
I looked at her in confusion.
"What?"
"I'm going to go to a KFC. First thing I'm gonna do when I get out. Yeah."
I smiled sadly at her and wrapped my arms around her.
"It will be OK. You'll find a way."
We sat like that for a while, wrapped up in a hug, before both of our HUDs pinged with a message to return to Tim and Alan.

Tijs opened the door for us, sighing as I pushed him out of the way to find Tim slouched on the sofa with an ice pack on his eye and his hands shaking. Iselin also ignored the older man in her attempt to get to Alan, curled up on the other couch with a fresh cut running down his cheek and his hand heavily bandaged. I smirked at Tim.
"That's quite an achievement for 10 minutes of complete silence."
I could feel Alan's glare boring into the back of my skull.
"We've settled it, Martijn. Don't bring it back up, or you'll be getting a black eye too."
I raised my hands defensively
"Okay, okay. Is it settled settled or do I need to get him to avoid you while we're here?"
"I was just angry you guys didn't tell me, Martin. Now we've sorted it, I'm not gonna try and kill him again, if that's what you're asking. We're chill."
Tim grasped my hand tightly.
"It's fine, Marty. I kinda deserved it. Leave it be."

Once Tijs, being the overprotective guy he was, had checked both Tim and Alan for more serious injuries, and Alan had checked over Iselin, because noone was sure whether she was injured from the battle or not, the three of us waved goodbye to Alan and Tijs, who had to go to Admin. Iselin had elected to stay here for a while, so they went up to the studio, leaving me downstairs with a half finished board game and a sink of dirty dishes.

I hadn't really processed the effect of the battle on the rest of the base until I left Tim's apartment a couple of days later. I had spent the time with Martijn and Tim, worked for hours straight in the studio, avoiding everything else.

But here I was, headed for a meeting with Alan, and to do that, I had to leave the safety of the apartment.

I don't know what I had expected, really. Maybe empty corridors, deserted dorm rooms. Perhaps everyone had gone home by now.

But no. There were open doors everywhere, sure, but that was clearly a strategic play to make it easier to support each other. I passed at least 3 people sleeping in the corridor (fuck only knows why, but that was none of my business, they can sleep wherever they want) and a cute couple hugging in a doorway, #34975 burying himself deep in his boyfriend's neck, on my way to Alan's office.

His door, too, was open, and I knocked quietly before slipping in, nodding hello to the other admins present. Lewis was also there, curled up in an armchair in the corner, and I got the feeling that he had been there for a while, and had no intention of moving any time soon.

They started the meeting, a zoom call pulling up on one of the walls, but I was barely paying attention. There was mentions of memorials and ceremonies, and discussions of dates, organisation and designs, but it was all in one ear, out the other for me. I honestly don't know how I stayed awake through the whole meeting, let alone being able to pick up on various concepts, but the instant the other admins left, I curled up next to Alan and passed out on his lap.

I woke up in my bunk, above Susanne, who was still sleeping. Assuming Alan had moved me from his office, I decided to go for a shower, dousing myself in scalding hot water and then tugging on an oversized hoodie I had acquired from someone (probably martijn) over the past few days.

The Norwegian air was cold against my face when I left the base, somehow dragging my feet into a jog across the mountain top and down into the city, towards the aquarium. It was barely open for the day, and I went and sat in the sea tunnel until I was reminded to eat by my grumbling stomach, at which point I started the walk back to the base to aquire some food, before heading back over to Alan's office to curl up next to him while he worked.

A/N: Sorry for the delay guyssss. Anyway. Enjoy the weirdness. This chapter brought to you the 2024 Olympic games but in German, and breaking my back walking across köln with a heavy-ass backpack.

P.S. Love you babyboy <3
