When we had finished our meal, she took me to the ExTes lab, where an exact replica of the bow she had showed me a hologram of an hour ago was waiting, and then led me to a small room by the training centre where the rest of our friends were waiting.
"Sorry, I had to pick up my bow from the lab." She explained, and set it down on the side.
"OK. I've called you here to explain how to use your suits."

She proceeded to demonstrate the different functions - weaponry, invisibility, and others features and by lunchtime we were flying around the room, invisible and throwing fireballs at targets.

"OK, I'm going to test you in a combat situation and then you can go eat." Iselin said, pressing a button, and suddenly we were on a battlefield

19013- dont worry, its not real, but if you get hit, it will hurt
19013- the objective is to get to the tower. i reccomend working together

I took her advice and used Avem to create a rough map of the scenario, training from before stating to kick in as well

19010- we need to take out the team leaders.

I highlighted the four in red on my map, showing the others the first set of targets

You- Ive got number 3 in my sights, lightning in sector 6

Within seconds, I had the projection flickering out of existence, while Ken, Lewis and Cami took down the other commanders, leaving the others to round up the remaining soldiers that hadn't disappeared during the battle. Chris flew over to the tower and pressed the 'end simulation' button and the battlefield disappeared, dropping us back in the training room.
"Good. Lets go eat." Ise said, picking up her bow again and heading for the door, but it was flung open before she was halfway there.

"Alan! Red Nexus are trying to level Holland" The walker cried.
"They've got 70 odd bombers flying over major cities and hundreds of homes have already been destroyed!"
I looked to Ise, down at my hands, and then at my friends behind me, already scrambling for weapons and discarded gloves.
"Assemble an attack squadron. I want the best shooters in the base on it. And get the refugees outta there."
I turned to my team.
"Ready?"

A few minutes later and I was flying above Amsterdam, the glowing orange portal hovering behind me, my rifle on my back and my team surrounding me. 

19013- I have locations of RN teams. Split?

A map of Holland appeared in the corner of my helmet, with several pulsing red dots highlighted above Leiden, Rotterdam, and various other cities.

You- yes. teams of 5. 1, 28300, 2 +3 were staying here

19013- 19010,19007, 391, 11, we're going to leiden

The remainder of the squadron arranged themselves into task forces and we split up, headed for our respective targets.

19013- make sure you get tijs and martijn out safely, i dont want them to have to stay here longer
You- got it

I spotted the Red Nexus force beneath us and turned invisible, the four people behind me following suite as we dropped down to examine the enemy.

You- ~20 soldiers, 3 RX-8s and a tank. two of us take out electrics, other 3 handle infntry

You- Its called Call of Duty
You- although i have had to... forcibly remove Red Nexus a couple of times IRL too
28300- Is that how you got the scars

I flicked my weapons system to EMP and fired a pulse to fry the drones' control circuits. The bots fell from the sky, rendered forever useless by the blast of energy, and as I watched, Andy created a fireball and launched it at the tank, which burst into flames.

391/ Kenneth/ K-391 PoV

Iselin led the way to Leiden, starting at the coast and working our way up the canals and rivers to our target's location.

You- how do you know this area so well? and why arent we drowning rn?
19013- used to come on holiday here
19013- helmets stop water getting in and collect oxygen from the water so we can breathe

I didn't question her technical knowledge and we continued swimming through the city, nearing our destination with every stroke.

19013- RN need to improve their security i just hacked heir RX-8 to fire on them
19010- ha

Soon she stopped, then launched herself out of the water, and I saw her suit flash as she left the murky liquid. I too, flew out of the canal, and felt a burst of heat as I emerged into the air, before landing completely dry on the bank.

19013- i know you want to know how, K. the suits are completely waterproof, so you'll stay dry no matter what, but they release heat on exit to both warm you up and get rid of any residual water that could mess with functionality.

A couple of streets away, I could hear the Red Nexus unit's shouting, so we flew up and over the houses, getting a good view of the environment. The group was stood by another canal, some holding rifles, others flaming torches, a couple of them sat on a tank that trundled along behind the original force. Two drones hovered above the battalion, firing on their own masters, just as Ise had programmed them to. I saw her pull an arrow from her quiver and shoot it into the engine of one of the drones, which stuttered and failed briefly , falling from the sky before it recovered back to the original height. 

11- are those things waterproof, you could short circuit the drones and take out a portion of the team by drowning them
19007- theyre next a canal, we could use that?

Lewis started to form waves within the water, creating them bigger and bigger each time until they towered over the preoccupied enemy, who didn't even notice the mini tsunami until it was too late. It crashed down on them, and they sank to the bottom of the canal, never to be seen again. Success messages started popping up from other teams, and we all started to head back to our rendezvous so we could teleport back to base.

A/N: i discovered in this chapter that i am very bad at writing combat scenes. which is bad given the whole thing at the minute is fighting red nexus :/ oh well, new characters in the next few chapters, someone who i very very much enjoy writing appears very soon. enjoy :)
