#28300/ Susanne PoV

When we finally returned to the base, Gunnar met us in Escape, greeting us with the news that the ancient walkers had confirmed that all of the clans had now been rescued, and that they were constructing a portal to Atlantis so that they could move back. I nodded and blinked back tears, they were good friends and I was going to miss them. Gunnar noticed, and put a comforting hand on my shoulder
"You can go with them, if you want. I know war isn't doing you any good, and you deserve a break, you've been fighting much longer than everyone else here. They did say you're welcome to join them."
"Really?"
"Yes, really. Go get your stuff, I'll tell Serafina you decided to go, and we'll contact you if you're desperately needed." He lightly pushed me towards the door, and turned to talk to Iselin, who was helping the last of the injured in the corner, doing basic fixes until Ken could get them to the hospital.

About a month later, after a tense period of time in which Red Nexus didn't initiate any operations, and put up minimal reinforcements when we attempted (and succeeded) to reinstate governments to several of their occupied countries, #135 frantically pinged me a message.

#135- Alan!
#135- #0!
#135- red nexus have a rack of missiles and they're planning to launch them at Atlantis

The instant I read Ace's message, I sent #28300 a message and scrambled a team together.

You- Susanne,  evacuate Atlantis right now!
You- you're going to be bombed!
You- I'm bringing a task force over, look out for us.

I quickly changed into my combat suit, meeting the team in Escape. Iselin and her dorm mates, the rest of the Rising Walkers, a couple of higher ranking Walkers, and Andy and Cami, all dressed in combat suits and checking and servicing weapons, looked up when I walked in.
"You guys ready? This one's going to be a nightmare."
They nodded and I signalled to Ken, who was standing by with a Med Kit, to start up the portal.

Before long, we were in the city, sirens and alarms blaring throughout all of the buildings.
"Avem, scan and save blueprint as Atlantis." I ordered the drone as I ran with the team towards the city square, where all of the Walkers were assembled. Iselin started shouting instructions in their native language, and within 10 minutes the Svalbard clan had a shield set up around the Escape portal and the surrounding five streets. The Walkers started filing back to the Bergen Centre, and Susanne ran up to me, strapping on the last of her armour as she did.
"How're we looking?" She panted.
"12% population transported, 32% scan. We're all clear on radar. Can you help Andy round up any last Walkers? There were a couple of stragglers on 17th and South."
She nodded and ran back off.
A few minutes later, Cami jogged past, leading a group of ancient Walkers.
"Status?" She questioned.
"34% transported and 84% scan, nothing incoming yet." I replied

//Scan Complete//
//Saving...//
//Saved: Atlantis//

"74% of population transported, #0, hurry up!" _ called.

#19013- We've got Incoming!
#19013- 7 bogeys, short range ballistic missiles, estimated impact 3 minutes!

I called Avem and started hurrying the Walkers through the portal. Four clans remained, and Andy and Susanne had yet to reappear.

#19013- 1 minute Alan!

Susanne ran the corner, Andy three steps behind, shepherding a group of Walkers between them. The Svalbard clan started to retreat back towards the portal as the group passed them, keeping the shield up between them and their drones. My brother  dived through the portal with the rescues he'd found, as Serafina yelled something, and Susanne ran forward, dragging three of the clan back with her, frantically yelling for me to do the same. I grabbed another two, and pushed them through the portal, just as the first missile hit. Serafina strained as the water started to surge into the dome, trying to keep the protective shield around herself, Mikkel  and the portal, and collapsed to her knees.
"SERAFINA!" Susanne screamed, and bolted forward into the increasing water level to grab her friend. Mikkel was already by her side and the two of them fumbled for a few minutes, and then slumped down on their knees in the water. I could see more and more cracks appearing in the glass, and jogged over to the two, gently resting my hand on Susanne's shoulder.
"We have to go, 28. Mikkel, can you carry Serafina?"
I pulled the young archaeologist to her feet and held her hand tight as I led her back to the portal, tears flowing down her face, the other Walker following behind, carrying Serafina's body respectfully. The instant we appeared in Escape, the Walkers crowded around us, and I stepped back,  signalling that Ken should close the portal. He frowned, indicating Serafina's body, but I shook my head. I smiled sadly and watched as the hundreds of Walkers walked out of the room in procession, Mikkel in the middle, still carrying the corpse.

You- 28300, I don't know much about their burial traditions, but I'll open one of the back doors for you if you need to go out.
#28300- thanks. I'm going to spend the night with these guys. Tell Iselin, would you, I'm going to disconnect completely and let Cervy go on his own for a while.
You- Ok, good luck
You- I'm going to send a team of drones out to start the reconstruction of Atlantis tomorrow, but idk how long it'll take. You've got all the time you need.

#28300/ Susanne POV

I smiled sadly at Alan's message, and watched as the procession moved out of the base and gathered in a circle around Mikkel, who lay Serafina's body on the ground. They conducted a quick ceremony (which would have been longer had we not been in hiding) bidding her good luck in the next life, then a team of drones dug a grave under her body, and filled it in again on top of her. There was a minute of silence, and then we headed back into the base. I went with the Svalbard clan to their dorm. They sat in a circle on the floor, and I stood in the doorway, all of us crying softly. I sighed and called Cervy up to me. Taking his controller and the ear- and eyepieces, I placed them in his storage compartment.
"Go, Cervy. You are your own. Do what you want."
He looked at me and beeped.
"But #28300..."
"You deserve a life, Cervy. Go live it. Get Iselin to give you an upgrade or a new paint job. It's yours to live."
He beeped again, concerned, but turned and flew out of the room anyway.
I smiled and another tear ran down my cheek. A hand rested on my shoulder, and I turned, seeing another young woman standing there. She had long, blonde hair, and a kind face, and her drone looked in desperate need of a service.
"Hi. I'm Alida, or #88888. I'm sorry for your loss," She muttered. "I know you're probably not up for it, but do you want to maybe go get a drink at some point? #0 said we're allowed alcohol as long as we don't get drunk."
I nodded, sniffing.
"Your drone needs repairs. I can fix it if you want."
She smiled, and before long the damaged drone was in my possession. Sticking my head back round the door, I whispered that a friend was taking me out, and let Alida drag me down the hall.
