As Aya approached the court, her mind was a whirl of thoughts and emotions.
She worried about Mav's reaction, about the possibility of being ignored or pushed away. But she knew she had to try, to take that first step towards mending what had been broken.
When she finally reached the court, she saw Mav running, her focus entirely on the game.
The sight of her, so determined and in her element, made Aya's heartache with admiration and longing.
Mav passed the ball to another player, but her aim was off, and the ball flew towards Aya, striking her on the head.
The impact was sudden and jarring, knocking her off balance and sending her falling to the ground.
Mav's eyes widened in horror as she shouted for a timeout, her voice filled with panic. She sprinted over to Aya, her face a mask of concern. "Aya! Are you okay?" she asked, her voice trembling with worry.
Aya blinked, her vision swimming. But as her eyes focused, she saw Mav's worried face hovering above her, and a smile broke through the pain. "I'm okay," she said softly, her voice filled with a gentle warmth. "Don't worry about me."
Mav helped Aya to her feet, her hands gentle and supportive. "I'm so sorry," she said, her voice thick with guilt. "I didn't mean to—"
Aya cut her off with a soft laugh, her eyes bright with a mixture of amusement and affection. "Hindi mo na ba naaalala? Natamaan mo rin ako noon," she said, her voice teasing but kind.
Mav blinked, a look of realization dawning on her face. "Oh, right," she said, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. "Siguro habit ko nang makatama ng isang maganda."
Aya smiled, holding up the lunch box. "Your mom asked me to bring this to you," she said, her voice warm. "She's waiting outside."
Mav took the lunch box, her eyes softening with gratitude. "Thank you," she said, her voice filled with a mix of emotions. She hesitated as if searching for the right words. "Aya, I—"
Aya shook her head, a gentle smile playing on her lips. "It's okay," she said softly, her voice filled with understanding. "You don't have to say anything right now. I'll be here."
Mav's eyes filled with a mixture of relief and uncertainty. "Are you sure?" she asked, her voice tentative.
Aya nodded, her smile warm and reassuring. "I'll stay and watch you practice," she said, her eyes bright with hope. "Magpapaalam lang ako kay mama."
Mav's eyes widened in surprise, her cheeks flushing with a hint of color. "You'll... you'll stay?" she asked, her voice filled with a mixture of disbelief and hope.
Aya smiled, a gentle laugh escaping her lips. "Yes, I'll stay. I'll just go tell mama first," she said, her voice filled with warmth. She turned to walk back to the car, her heart light with a renewed sense of hope and determination.
As she approached the car, Mav's mother rolled down the window, her eyes twinkling with a mischievous glint. "So, how did it go?" she asked, her voice filled with curiosity.
Aya smiled, a soft blush coloring her cheeks. "I'm going to stay and watch Mav practice," she said, her voice filled with quiet happiness.
Mav's mother's eyes sparkled with delight. "The plan worked then," she said with a wink. "Have fun, mga junakis ko."
She put on her sunglasses, a satisfied smile playing on her lips as she started the car. "Take care, okay?" she said, her voice filled with warmth as she drove away.
Aya watched the car disappear, a mixture of confusion and amusement in her heart. She shook her head, a smile tugging at her lips, and made her way back to the court.
As she settled into the bleachers to watch Mav practice, she felt a sense of hope that had been missing for too long.
This was like a fresh start for them.
Thank you siguro sa bola?
