You and Sigma were sitting together at a fancy restaurant while your other friends, Fyodor and Nikolai, were talking, cuddling closely on the booth's other side, completely ignoring you and Sigma.
Sigma was sipping on his tea, completely unfazed. He was quite used to being left out, especially around Nikolai and Fyodor. After all, it was their special date and they would want to focus on each other. However, deep down, Sigma felt a pang of jealousy but he quickly shook it off and forced a casual smile.
You were getting uncomfortable being the third wheel and turned to Sigma to say something. But you didn't know what to say.
Sigma noticed your expression and knew what you were feeling. He couldn't help but feel a little awkward too, watching Nikolai and Fyodor completely ignore your presence. He sighed quietly and spoke up, trying to make conversation with you.
"I guess it's just us being the third wheels again..." He joked, giving you a sympathetic smile.
"Yeah, at least they're paying for dinner."
Sigma chuckled at your response. "True, silver lining I suppose." He took a sip of his tea and glanced over at Nikolai and Fyodor, who were now giggling and whispering something to each other in their own little bubble. He shook his head fondly."They're really something else, aren't they? I don't know how they can be so absorbed in each other all the time."
"It's so cute! Makes me jealous."
Sigma felt a pang of sympathy as you spoke."I know what you mean," he admitted softly, looking down into his tea. "It's hard not to feel envious when they're so happy together. But, you know... They have their moments. Maybe it's not as perfect as it seems." He tried to reassure you with a small smile.
"Hey, Sigma?" You asked.
Sigma looked up from his tea, his attention fully on you. "Yes?" he replied curiously.
"If we both don't find anyone in 30 years let's get married!" You laughed.
Sigma chuckled at your proposition. "Is that a proposal?" he joked. The thought of marrying you made his heart skip a beat, but he shook it off quickly."Sure thing, we can make a pact," he replied with a smile, trying to downplay the sudden rush of emotions.
You both laughed and joked with each other, the awkward feeling long gone. And as the waiter served you your food, Nikolai couldn't help but notice how close you two were.
Nikolai, always observant, couldn't help but notice the closeness between you and Sigma. He leaned back slightly, his gaze shifting from you to Sigma and back. A smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth as he observed the situation.
"Oooo" Nikolai laughed.
Nikolai's sudden comment made you and Sigma turn to him, startled. You could feel your face heating up, but Sigma managed to keep a neutral expression."What's so funny?" Sigma asked coolly, though he was secretly flustered by Nikolai's implication.
Nikolai's smirk widened as he watched you and Sigma squirm awkwardly. "Oh, nothing~" he teased, his voice dripping with amusement. "Just enjoying the view of two lovebirds, that's all."
"Shut up, Nikolai, go back to kissing Fyodor." Nikolai feigned shock at your response, dramatically putting his hand to his chest. "How dare you!" he exclaimed before bursting into laughter. Meanwhile, Fyodor sat silently next to him, rolling his eyes with a hint of amusement.
The four of you stay at the restaurant for an hour more before heading back to Nikolai and Fyodor's place.
Everyone sat in a circle on the living room floor, and Nikolai couldn't help but suggest a game of truth or dare. There was a collective sigh from you and Sigma, but both of you still agreed to play the game. Fyodor appeared indifferent as usual, simply raising an eyebrow at Nikolai's antics.
