Shadow and Sonic stayed in their embrace for a moment, the room filled with a quiet, comforting energy. Sonic pulled back slightly, giving Shadow a reassuring smile.
Sonic: "Hey, you know, it's okay to feel like that sometimes. We all have our dark moments. What matters is that you keep going, even when it feels tough."
Shadow nodded, feeling a small glimmer of hope from Sonic's words. Sonic got up from the couch, stretching his arms and looking around.
Sonic: "Alright, how about we do something fun to take your mind off things? Maybe a race around the block or—"
Suddenly, a loud crash came from the kitchen. Both Shadow and Sonic turned their heads in alarm. Shadow's eyes widened as he saw the fridge door had swung open violently, and a giant can of chili dog mix fell from the top shelf. The can hurtled through the air, heading straight for Sonic.
Sonic, caught completely off guard, tried to dodge but it was too late. The can struck him squarely on the head with a sickening thud. Sonic's eyes rolled back, and he crumpled to the floor, motionless.
There must've been someone behind it, because shit does not just happen...Shadow: "Sonic!?"
Shadow rushed over, kneeling beside his fallen friend. He checked for a pulse, his hands shaking. There was none. Shadow's heart sank as he realized Sonic was gone.
Shadow: "What the hell just happened...?"
Shadow stared at the can of chili dog mix, his mind struggling to process the absurdity of the situation. He couldn't believe that his best friend, the fastest thing alive, had just been taken out by a can of food.
Shadow: "Of all the ways to go... Sonic, you had to make it a joke, didn't you?"
Shadow stood up slowly, looking down at Sonic's lifeless body. A strange mix of sorrow and disbelief washed over him. He couldn't help but let out a dark, humorless chuckle.
Shadow: "You always did know how to make an exit."
As the initial shock began to fade, Shadow felt a strange sense of clarity. He realized that life, in all its unpredictability, could be both cruel and laughable. He looked at Sonic one last time and whispered, "Thanks for being there, buddy."
Shadow picked up the phone to call for help, knowing that dealing with the aftermath would be difficult. But in the midst of the chaos and absurdity, he found a sliver of resilience within himself. He would carry on, just as Sonic had always encouraged him to do.
Shadow: "Rest in peace, Sonic. I'll keep going... for you."
And with that, Shadow steeled himself for the challenges ahead, determined to honor his friend's memory in the best way he knew how—by living his life to the fullest, no matter how dark or absurd it might get.
And maybe one day he'll find out if someone was behind it...
The End!!! <3
