Shadow of the Butterfly

Part 5

"What is that doctor saying? I don't know what he was on about? Like another guy? I'm not Gay! Sonic's kinda hot though..- wait! what the damn!" Shadow thought to himself while pacing down the pavement.

Suddenly a voice out of nowhere "Oh hey Shadow!" 

"Shi-" He quickly stopped himself from cursing.

"Hey, Sonic," Shadow replied, trying to conceal the blush still lingering on his cheeks. "What brings you here?"

"Just taking a stroll, you know," Sonic said, giving Shadow a playful grin. "What about you? You seem a bit... flustered."

Shadow cleared his throat, trying to regain his composure. "Oh, just came from a counseling session, nothing major."

Sonic raised an eyebrow. "Counseling, huh? Everything okay?"

"Yeah, yeah, just sorting out some things," Shadow muttered, avoiding eye contact.

Sonic nudged him lightly. "Well, if you ever need to talk about it, I'm here, buddy."

"Thanks," Shadow said, offering a small smile. "I appreciate it."

As they continued walking together, Shadow couldn't shake off the counselor's words from his mind. Maybe it was time to confront his feelings, even if it meant facing the uncertainty that lay ahead.

As they strolled along the sidewalk, Sonic suddenly stopped, turning to face Shadow with a curious expression. "Hey, Shadow, there's something I've been meaning to ask you."

Shadow's heart skipped a beat, bracing himself for whatever Sonic might say. "Yeah? What is it?"

Sonic hesitated for a moment before continuing, "I've noticed you've been acting a little... different lately. Is everything really okay?"

Shadow felt a rush of conflicting emotions flood over him. Should he tell Sonic about his inner turmoil, his uncertainties about their friendship, his newfound awareness of his feelings? The counselor's words echoed in his mind, urging him to be honest.

Taking a deep breath, Shadow met Sonic's gaze with determination. "Actually, Sonic, there's something I need to talk to you about."
