EEVEE
Eevee was brought back into consciousness by the sound of Hannah's voice, her eyes tearing apart from one another to meet with the flashing sunlight and the silence suddenly became the buzzing of market life.
"What?" Finn tilted his head, clearly confused by the situation. For all he knew, this weird five-foot-tall girl suddenly went into a trance as if she was being possessed by some demon, and then was suddenly exorcized by Hannah's voice.
"Don't mind her, she's a freak." Joey rolled his eyes while Eevee proceeded to try and silently explain how she couldn't see any of Finn's thoughts.
"Right Eevee? You're a freak, right?" Joey spoke a bit louder, catching Eevee's attention. She caught his threatening glare before he turned to Finn to say, "Yeah, she's just a bit insane. A little silly."
"OH LOOK! A PUPPY!" Eevee gasped, immediately running off. She knew that by saying that, Joey had excused her from the situation, and she just had to play by his rules.
Though, as much as she wished that there was a puppy, there was not. Instead, she decided that now was a good time to make her way over to the Causse's house.
The woman's house was placed close to the heart of the village, so she noticed the increase in the number of people and turned her music back on. As she walked, her mind kept wandering back to that Finn guy, and his empty mind. Why wasn't she able to read his mind? What was so special about him?
Then, her heart dropped as she came to a sudden realization.
"If I can't read his mind, does that mean that there are more people I can't read??" She questioned herself, her face flushing. "Or is it that I can only read the minds of people in the village? And nobody else?"
True, it was a bit egoistic to think that there were no boundaries to her gifted powers, but this encounter really took her on by surprise.
"No." She grunted, puffing up her cheeks and furrowing her brows in frustration. "That can't be possible. Maybe I wasn't focused enough. I'll try again later, and for sure, it will work."
Sure, she promised she'll try again, but secretly, she hoped that she'd never see Finn, or anyone else like him ever again, just to spare her from the sheer embarrassment that she felt earlier.
Eevee finally arrived at Mrs. Causse's house, small and charming, gardens covered in flowers and majestic plants, walls painted a sweet pastel green, and a graceful old golden retriever resting on the front porch. It lifted its head as Eevee arrived, its tail weakly swishing back and forth as it recognized her.
"Hey there Marigold, how are you?" she whispered in a soothing voice, though she knew that the old dog couldn't hear her. Nonetheless, Eevee felt her thoughts, and she was delighted to know that the dog was happy to see her.
