EEVEE

"Mrs. Hale is feeling on edge today, which might be because Hannah and Joey have to travel to the university tomorrow... She might want me to head to the market so she can prepare food for travels."

Swiping the pen off of her wooden desk, she brought it to the paper, scribbling down the words. A list — one could not live without one.

"Let's see... Mr. Hale... Indifferent. Guess he hasn't gotten his newspaper yet. And finally, Joey and Hannah. They're excited about university, of course. They're doing their own shopping today, so I'm off the hook."

The girl finished her list, standing to her feet and walking over to her bed, taking a seat on the edge of her bed and crossing her legs over one another.

"Sounds like it'll be a busy day, Spike!" She sighed, leaning back as she glanced over at a terrarium that sat at the corner of her desk. Inside, a small, white and blue-scaled lizard lay, basking in the sunlight with no regard to the world around him.

The girl got up, tearing her list out of her notepad and stuffing it into the pocket of her dress. She walked over to a mirror, where she observed herself, making sure she looked presentable.

Her hair was an odd mix, her hair on her right side was black, and the left was snowy white. She gazed into the eyes of the girl in the reflection, both a pale olive green, darkening in dim lighting. After fixing herself up, she skipped over to the door.

She glanced back at her room, a small but charming area in which she spent most of her time. There was a small window above her desk, the wooden frame glowing in the afternoon sunlight that crept in, shining through the wind chimes that delicately swayed as the soft breeze swept past the lace curtains.

She had made her bed, and swept the floor, making the room feel fresh and inviting. Smiling warmly, she waited for the hour when she would be able to come back to solitude in her beloved room.

She closed the door behind her and crept down the stairs, the wood floors barely creaking as she had learned to move around the house without making a sound. Upon arriving at the bottom floor, she heard the sound of Mrs. Hale, her mother, cooking. There was a quiet chattering coming from the kitchen as well, indicating that Mrs. Hale's children were also awake.

Taking a breath, she entered the kitchen, a smile plastered on her face.

"Good morning." She grinned as she entered, hands folded behind her back.

"Eevee." Mr. Hale, who was seated at the table, nodded towards her, while his wife focused on her cooking. "Do you mind getting the paper for me?"

"Yes, sir." Eevee nodded and turned, only to sense that Mrs. Hale was about to say something.

   Grocery Shopping.
