EEVEEShe was tucked comfortably into her bed alongside her sister, the warm glow of the light flickering against the wooden walls of the cottage she once called home. Her eyelids began to fall heavy as the melody of her mother's song lulled her to slumber, her voice hollow and distant as time makes one forget such pleasures.
She was awoken again later that night, the light now put out and the room dark. There was no comforting warmth in the air now — it was dark and cold, and very still.
The girl rubbed her eyes as she sat up on her bed, looking around as she saw that her sister was not in bed.
Suddenly, the window beside her shattered into the room, spilling glass onto the wooden floor and fur carpet. The window, much like her own life, broke into what looked like a million pieces that could never be put back the same way.
She watched helplessly as shadowy figures stormed through the house, their faces twisted into grotesque masks of hatred and malice. She felt the sharp sting of pain as she was struck down, her body trembling with fear and shock. She was tied up and found herself being dragged away, thrown into a dark carriage that rattled and swayed as it hurtled through the night. She cried out for help, but her voice was drowned out by the sound of her own sobs and the creaking of the carriage.

Eevee finally woke, finding herself trembling and disoriented, her heart racing in her chest.
It was a nightmare — A reoccurring event that haunted her like ghosts in the night. It had been happening to her for as long as she could remember, but she couldn't figure out what the reason for it was.
She quickly wiped her face as she noticed the sound of the train rumbling along the tracks, reminding her of where she was, and where was headed. Though now, she found that the train was slowing down, perhaps arriving at its next station.
The girl looked around, letting herself adjust to the feeling of being in the train once again. She had fallen asleep too early to get used to these new surroundings.
Suddenly, her heart skipped a beat when her eyes locked with a pair of ice-blue ones. The blonde-haired boy, Finn, stared back at her, his eyebrows furrowed with noticeable concern.
"I um..." Eevee started, sitting up straight and quickly trying to think of something to say.
"You're weird." He yawned, rolling his eyes and sinking back into the book he was reading.
His remark had Eevee stop, trying to process what he'd just said. Weird? Where did that come from?
"Weird?!" She choked, her mind desperately searching for a way into his thoughts, although continued to be met with the same wall of darkness. "What's that supposed to mean?!"
