EEVEE
"Can you believe those two?! They were all like oh, we're willing to wait a few years so that you'll be able to work your butt off twice as much for our benefit!"
"Eevee... Dear, calm down. Have some tea."
The sky was black outside, and the stars twinkled above the village. Eevee was seated on Mrs. Causse's living room floor, hugging her knees closely to her chest as she sobbed into her hands.
"I don't want to leave you, and Spike, and the village!" She sniffed, looking up at the woman.
"It's only temporary, darling. You'll be able to come home during the year." Mrs. Causse assured her.
Eevee sniffed, pouting at the woman. "I won't survive! I don't know the first thing about going to an actual school."
"Yes, it might be scary, but I'm more than confident that you will be just fine. Besides, remember when you were just a wee little thing, you dreamed about traveling the whole land of Gaiblostama?"
"That was when I was a kid." Eevee answered, her voice muffled as she buried her face into her knees. "The real world is scary."
"Indeed. But it is also full of beautiful mysteries that can only be uncovered by experiencing both good and bad. You know, child, you are so much stronger than you think. Once you find where your heart belongs, you won't ever have to be scared again. But you have to find yourself first."
Eevee nodded slowly, wiping her tears with the back of her hand. Mrs. Causse smiled at her warmly, gently stroking her hair.
"You remind me so much of my little girl, dear." she spoke softly. "You're just like a daughter to me, and daughters must spread their wings and conquer the world. It's all part of growing up."
"I guess you are right." Eevee sighed, managing a small smile in return.
"Here, let me show you something." Mrs. Causse said, her blue eyes suddenly set with confidence, as if she had just made up her mind about something.
Mrs. Causse led Eevee up the stairs, allowing the younger girl to support her as they ascended. She led her to a bedroom, pulling open the wooden door and walking in. It was quite empty, with only a bed and a rocking chair to furnish it. Mrs. Causse walked over to a closet, where she opened and pulled out a large chest.
Eevee, confused but politely intrigued, watched the lady as she lifted it open.
"You've heard about my granddaughter, haven't you?" She asked.
"Um.. Yeah. Just a bit." Eevee answered softly. She had only heard a few bits and pieces about Mrs. Causse's granddaughter. The pictures of her on the woman's walls only reached about a certain age, and there was nothing of her beyond that — So Eevee had only assumed that she was no longer with them.
