CHAPTER - 8

After about 20 minutes, Nikhil stopped the car in front of a park. The road was deserted as it was almost midnight.

He came out of the car, followed by Shreya and leaned on his car bonet. Shreya too sat on the car bonet beside him and waited for him to speak, who was just standing looking at the moon.

"It feels so strange na that how a day, a simple event can change your life. Like till yesterday, I was a bachelor and now your fiance. Starting a new relation, a new phase of my life which is going to change everything." Nikhil said after some time and again stopped talking. Shreya kept quiet waiting for him to continue.

"Tanya" He said after a few minutes, breaking the silence.

"I met her when I went to London to pursue my post graduation. She was in my class only. We became good friends and started spending a lot of time together, which I used to like a lot and slowly we fell for each other."

" But Aditya never liked her. He used to say he gets negative vibes from her. But I always ignored him as she started becoming my comfort. It can be because, I was away from my home, my parents even though Aditya was with me but still that feeling of being with some one, being loved and cared that was what attracted me towards her." He said and all this while, Shreya was listening to him silently.

"After completing my studies, I returned back to join Dad's business and she stayed back there only as she landed a job in one of the companies there. We were in long distance relationship. I was happy with that as I knew she also wanted to make her career and after some time she will also return back to join her father's business. But..."

"But ?" Shreya asked when he stopped talking.

"You know na, Life never happens the way we want. And always give us shock and break us in the most unexpected way." He said with a sad smile.

"It was her 24th Birthday, and I decided to propose her for marriage. So I went to London along with Chirag and Aditya to surprise her. But got the biggest shock of my life that day. She was cheating on me with her boss for one year. They..were... were in an.. intimate position." His voice breaking in the end. Shreya rubbed his back to calm him down.

"Four years, We were in a relationship for four fucking years and she cheated on me. She could have told me that it's not working anymore or she fell out of love but she decided to betrayed me in worst possible way."

" That was the day, when I broke completely and closed doors of my heart forever." He completed with a small sigh and looked at her, who was looking at him intently.

" Did your family know about this?"

" No, only Aditya and Chirag knew about my relationship with her. I decided to tell them after proposing to her, but that day never came.:

"Why did you tell me all this then?" This was the only question she could ask.

"Listen Shreya, today we stepped into a new phase of our life and I don't want to keep any secrets from you regarding my past life."

" I told you this, so that you don't feel insecure because of anything and also, I didn't tell you all these because I wanted to know about your past life. I will never ever force you to tell me your past until and unless you wanted me to know." He said with a smile.

"Can I ask you something?" She asked cautiously.

"You still didn't move on from her?"

"As I said earlier, I don't love her anymore but it's the betrayal given by my love that have broken my heart in all possible ways."

And again silence surrounded them. Nikhil was looking sad with the mention of his past and remembering all those things. So, Shreya decided to lighten his mood,
