Shreya wakes up with her face mashed into a pillow that smells faintly of tequila. Her head was pounding like a drumline at a parade she definitely didn't ask for as soon as she opened her eyes, leaving a dull, relentless throb behind her temples. Every beat felt like a hammer strike, echoing through her skull. Her mouth was dry, tongue thick and heavy, tasting something different.
She attempts to sit up, but her brain politely declines the request by sending a sharp reminder that gravity exists. Each movement made the dull ache flare into a sharp, stabbing sensation, as if her body was punishing her for the night she barely remembered.
" Oh mumma! My head and body are in pain like hell." She muttered crying a little.
"But, what exactly happened yesterday and how did I end up here." She questioned herself but the memory is giving its best impression of a glitchy internet connection.
She tried her best to run her turtle brain and recall at least something. After making her brain do some exercises, it finally hits her-the foggy flashes of her accidentally drinking, dancing wildly and crazily on the dance floor, Nikhil carrying her in his arms. Her eyes almost fell from her socket remembering how she was kissing him and what all she told him.
" Oh God! Shreya. You were literally kissing his whole face like a hungry despo." She stated, recalling her little act.
" Don't act like you didn't want to do it for so long." Her inner self commented.
" I wanted to but....."
"But you missed his lips." Her inner self voiced out sadly.
"Yaa, I should have kissed his lips too and then would have put the blame on alcohol." She agreed.
" See, you missed such a good opportunity." Her inner self consoled her.
" Don't worry, you can fulfill your wish now." She heard a deep husky voice.
She snapped her head towards the door and found Nikhil leaning against it holding a glass.
He started coming towards her and seeing the wide smirk on his face, she was sure that he heard everything. Right now she only wanted a spoonful of water to get drowned in it.
" And I promise, we both will blame that innocent alcohol for it." Nikhil said now sitting infront of her.
" Nikhil....." Shreya breathed being lost at words. She was way too embarrassed to look at him. So the only thing she did was duck her head down.
" I am sorry for yesterday. I know that I troubled you a lot and somehow crossed my limits too." Shreya said still looking down.
Nikhil felt a pang in his heart thinking that she is regretting everything which is the reason for his wide smile since morning. He didn't even mind when Vikram and his dad teased for smiling like a five year old.
" Do..do you regret what all happened?" Nikhil asked slowly.
Shreya immediately looked at him and saw hurt and pain flashing in his eyes which he was trying to hide.
" No..." She blurted making him sigh in relief and smile again.
She didn't know the successful business man would be so dumb to even ask that question. How can he think that she would be regretting all, when she was literally talking about kissing him a few minutes ago in her full senses.
" How are you feeling now?" He asked.
"The morning after a drunk night feels like waking up in a washing machine mid-spin." She said holding her forehead, making him laugh.
