It was around seven in the evening and Shreya was in her cabin, typing continuously on her computer. The office was unusually quiet, with only the soft hum of computers breaking the silence.

It was late, most of the staff had already left for the day. Shreya and her colleagues Trisha and Rohit stayed behind for an important project work, they have been working on this project for the past few weeks. She had already informed Reena that she would be late today.

" If promotion and appraisal would not have been on stake, I would have been chilling at home and not working my ass off." Trisha said with an exhausted sigh making other two agree with her.

" True. I'm telling you Paras sir is going to be reason for my breakup." Rohit joined her.

" Guys, let's focus on our work before that cranky crackhead shows up." Shreya said focusing back on her computer screen.

After sometime, Rohit got a call from his home, asking him to be back early as they have to attend a function.

" Sorry, guys! Mom's calling me again and again, so have to go now." Rohit said apologetically.

" It's alright." Shreya replied passing him a small smile. " And Trisha, you were supposed to go with Rohit na, so you also go."

"And leave you here alone? No thanks, I will take a cab. You can go Rohit." Trisha exclaimed.

" Trishu, please understand. Taking cab this late is not safe. And moreover, only a little work is left. After wrapping it up, I will also go." Shreya requested her.

" Okay, but please don't keep working too late." Trisha agreed to her defeatedly.

" And inform us after reaching home." Rohit told her. After bidding her bye, both of them left.

After half an hour Shreya was almost done with her work. She glanced at her phone only to realise it's already eight o'clock, so she started winding up her work. She was almost done when Paras, her boss, approached from behind, the sound of his polished shoes tapping on the office floor.

"Shreya, could I see you in my office for a moment?" His tone was calm, neutral, but something in the way he lingered behind her made her skin prickle.

"Anything important, sir?"

" Yes, I wanted to discuss something about the project." Shreya was hesitant but still nodded and got up from her seat.

She followed him into his office, the door closing with a soft click behind her. He gestured to the chair across from his desk asking her to sit. But instead of sitting on his chair, he leaned against the desk's edge, too close for her comfort.

"You've been doing great work lately, Shreya." Paras said, his eyes scanning her in a way that felt more personal than professional.

"I've noticed how dedicated you've been, staying late, pushing yourself. I'm impressed with how much you're willing to do for this company." He further complimented her.

The compliment didn't feel right. There was something off in his tone, the way his gaze lingered on her just a little too long.

"Thank you, I'm just trying to keep up with the deadlines." Shreya smiled tightly, shifting in her seat.
