CHAPTER - 17

It was evening time, when Nikhil reached Shreya house. Stepping out of his car, he saw Shreya sitting in balcony with her cousins. She laughed when Dhruv, who was sitting beside her said something in her ear. It was the first time he had seen her laughing. Smiling a little, he made his way inside the house.

Elders where sitting in living room, enjoying their evening tea. Upon seeing Nikhil, Aruna got up to welcome him.

"Namaste Mumma." Nikhil said touching her feets.

"God bless you beta! How's everyone at home?"

"They all are fine and Mom is already missing her daughter." Nikhil said making her laugh.

Next he went towards Manish to take his blessings and greeted everyone else.

Aruna asked a maid to go and inform Shreya about Nikhil's arrival.

Daksh was telling everyone some joke, when a maid came to inform Shreya that Nikhil has arrived and Aruna is calling her downstairs.

"Oh ho! Nikhil Jiju came, so let's go and have some fun with him" Swati said wiggling her eyebrows.

" Yes Swati, let's go and tease him." Daksh joined her.

Before Shreya could stop them, they ran outside.

"Even I want to enjoy the teasing session with Nikhil." Dhruv said

"Now you too Jiju!" Shreya exclaimed getting irritated.

" Of course, I wanted to even all my scores. Remember the same things were happening with me two years ago and you were their group leader."
Saying that Dhruv also went downstairs.

Having no other option, she also followed everyone.

When she reached living room, Nikhil was drinking tea. He was engrossed in a conversation with Karan. Wanted to hear what they were talking about, she came and sat beside him.

Nikhil turned towards her and passing a brief smile again continued talking to Karan. They were having discussions regarding business affairs so feeling bored she started using her phone.

"Nikhil..." Priya called him, "You should have come with Shreyu in the morning itself."

" Yes Jiju, you know di was missing you whole day." Daksh said.

"And was talking about you only, the whole time." Dhruv also joined them making her shocked and embarrassed.

All she wanted to do right now was to kill all of them for lying to him. Nikhil knew they were lying as Shreya would do anything but miss him.

"Not only her, but I was also missing her alot that's why I came early." Nikhil played along making her head snap in his direction. For a second she thought, she had broken her bone. She was looking at him with wide eyes.

" Oh ho missingggg... " They all said together teasing them.

" Okay kids, enough now. Stop teasing them." Aruna said putting an end to their teasing session with today's guest Nikhil and Shreya.

All Shreya wanted to do was to hug her mother tightly for saving her from these devil's. But she was still unable to register Nikhil's words.

Dinner was a joyful event with all the chit chatting and fun-filled talks.

After dinner, the rest of the relatives also headed to their places.

Shreya was in her room, packing some left over stuff of hers, when Nikhil entered behind her.

Making himself comfortable in bed, he asked her, " If you want, we can stay?"

"And what about you? Are you okay with staying here for tonight?"

"Yes, why would I have a problem in staying at my parents house." Nikhil stated as a matter of fact. Nikhil had overheard her conversation with Priya where she was wishing to spend some more time with them. So he informed his parents that they would come back tomorrow.

Shreya was overwhelmed, when he addressed her parents as his parents and said she can stay here. She badly wanted to spend some more time with her parents but being a closed person, who always had difficulty in expressing her needs and desires, was unable to tell her wish.

"Really? And what about your clothes?" She again confirmed from him.

"I always had a small bag ready in my car for emergencies, so don't worry about me and relax."

" Thank you so much." She said smiling widely. " I am going to their room, wanna come with me?" She asked him although, she wanted to spend some alone time with her parents, but also cannot make him feel left out . With all the relatives around, she didn't get any time to talk with her parents and Priya properly.

" You go and spend some time with them peacefully. I'm a bit tired so going to sleep."

With that, Shreya went to her parents room jumping like a kid and tagged along Priya with her also.

It was around 2 a.m. when she came back to her room. The whole room was dark, only her bedside lamp was switched on. She went to her closet to change in her night clothes. She noticed Nikhil sleeping on her side of bed. Huffing she went to to the other side and lay down, sleeping ready to vanish in her dreamland.

They went back, the next morning after having breakfast. Dropping Shreya at the door, he went to his office after his long break. He knew, his staff would have handled all the work in his absence although he and his dad were doing work from home but now his physical presence was also needed and he can't neglect his work anymore .

Upon reaching his office, all his staff started congratulating him. His room was also occupied with bouquets send to him by his clients congratulating him for his wedding.

Asking his secretary, to clean up the room and bring him a hot coffee, he immersed himself in work.

There Shreya was in her room, arranging her cupboard. Although, Reena had offered to help her which she refused, not wanting to bothered her.

After the hectic work of arranging all her stuff which took almost two hours, she slept for sometime.

It was already evening when she woke up. After refreshing, she went downstairs. Reena was preparing dinner, so she stood beside her, filling her about yesterday.

By the time, Nikhil also came back looking all tired and exhausted.

"How was your day?" Shreya asked giving him a glass of water.

" Very tiring. A lot of work was pending due to my continuous absence." Nikhil said with an exhausted sigh, drinking water.

" Should I bring coffee for you? It will help with your headache."

"No, I'll have dinner only."

He then went to his room to freshen up while Shreya started arranging dinning table.

"Dad, Can I join my office from Monday? I am on leave fot more than a month." Shreya asked Amit when they were having Dinner.

" And why are you asking us?"

" I was just asking for your permission?" She said in a low voice.

"How many times I have to remind you that you are our daughter. You just need to inform about your decisions and whereabouts the same way you did with your parents."

" Thank you Dad."

"Bhabhi, just join our office. With you being around, Bhai's mood will always be good and he can spend more time with you. You know some office romance." Vikram said winking at last making Shreya chocked on her food.

Nikhil passed her water and glared at Vikram making him shut his mouth.
