"Kiyan, you should go. I'll just stay at Cat or Zain's house until you come back." I say. He told his father he would stay home with me instead of going to Japan. His father agreed with no hesitation and even tried offering to take me with them but I decided to stay.

"I already said no. Look at the bags under your eyes, Suki. You don't sleep anymore." he says as he rubs under my eye. "It's been three days."

"I'm okay though." I lie. I feel okay, but I know I'm mentally not.

"No, you're not. And that's okay, but I'm not gonna leave you like this. What kind of boyfriend would I be if I did that to you?"

"You're going to Japan to see your family, Kiyan. You don't go that often."

"It doesn't matter and nothing you say will change my mind. Now move closer." he says as he nuzzles his face into my hair. We're laying down watching Demon Slayer right now but we're already as close as possible. He wants me to crawl into his skin or something.

"I'm close enough."

"No, you're no-"

Someone knocks on his bedroom door.

"Come in!" he shouts.

His dad opens the door and says, "we're leaving in about thirty minutes. Just saying bye. And I really hope you feel better, Vinnie. I know it's hard and I'm not sure if there's anything I'm supposed to say but I'm here if you need anything."

"Thank you, Mr. Silver. I really appreciate it but I'm fine."

"It's okay to not be though. Just remember that, okay?"

I nod, "thank you, sir."

He smiles then closes the door.

"See. Even my dad knows you're not fully okay." he kisses my forehead.

"You're so clingy."

He lets me go and stands from the bed, "fine then. I won't touch you. I won't look at you. I won't even breathe the same air as you!" Then dramatically storms out of the room.

I laugh at him and call for him, "Kiyan!"

He peeks his head around the corner, "yes, Suki?"

"Can you close the door back?" I joke.

He gasps, "you're so mean!"

I laugh harder: he's such a goofball.

"I'm just joking. I don't mind you being clingy. I kinda like it."

His face goes from appalled to happy in a split second. He walks back over to me and crawls on top of me, "oh, yeah?"

I place my hand on his cheek and start rubbing it, "mhm. It feels nice."

He grabs my hand off his cheek and puts it against his lips, kissing it; "Good. I'm gonna make sure I give you the type of love your parents can't. I'll make you happy, Suki."

I smile, "you already do."

"Hello?" I answer my phone.

"I brought you a plate of dinner. Come open the door and get it." my mother says.

"Okay, I'm coming."

Since the incident, I've been staying at Kiyan's because my mother thinks it's best for me right now. My mother cooks and then brings me and Kiyan's family plates.

Right as I stand to head to the door, Kiyan's bathroom door opens and he walks out in his towel.

His hair is drenched, but long and covering his eyes. His muscles look like they're tense, he must've showered in cold water. And his body is dripping with water.

"Kiyan..."

"Suki?"

"You... uh, never mind. My mom just- she uh, just dropped food off for us."

"I can see you blushing."

"I-I'll go get it." I stand and sprint for the door.

I open the front door and my mother is standing in front of me with terrible bags under her eyes and dark circles to compliment. She hasn't been sleeping.

"Ma..." I say.

"Hi, Nilla. How are you feeling, baby?" she rubs my cheek with a smile.

Seeing her force a smile for me makes me choke back tears. I know I'm mentally strained right now, but the fact that everyone around me could be too didn't occur to me.

I take the containers from her and set them on the console table near the door.

I pull her into a tight hug and thank her for all she's been doing for me. And for carrying my burden.

She starts to sob in my arms, "I knew I shouldn't have let his junkie ass in the house! I told your father! Now look what happened to you!" she cries.

"I'm okay, Ma. I promise." I lie.

"No, you're not, Nilla."

Suddenly, I begin blubbering with her.

After we console each other a while longer, she lifts up and wipes her face, "whew, all that crying gave me a migraine."

"Me too." I sniffle and smile.

Ma places both her hands on my cheeks and brings my forehead to her lips, placing a gentle kiss on it, "I love you and I'm sorry. I'll let you know when the court date is and I'll send Anaya over with clothes later, okay? Just stay here for the time being."

"I love you too, Mama. Okay."

She gives me one last smile then leaves.

When I turn around, I see Kiyan standing at the top of the stairs.

"Are you okay, Suki?"

I nod, "mhm. I will be."

He nods too and continues down to me. He walks to me and wraps his arms around my neck, "I should've done more damage to him."

His arms are huge and muscular. They're warm and comforting too. I feel safe.

A light laugh escapes me, "I think you did enough. Any more and you would've been in jail with him."

"It would've been worth it since it was for you."

"Every time you say things like that, it makes me want to cry. You're so sweet to me."

"Don't cry. Not even happy tears. If you really appreciate my affection, give it back to me. Reciprocate everything I'm giving you."

"What if you leave me one day? What if you grow tired of me?"

"That would never happen, not after all that work I put in for you and the work I'm still putting in. If the impossible does somehow happen though, a good punch to the face would knock me back into my senses." he jokes.

I laugh against his chest and melt into him.
