POV: Caitlyn

Progress Day.

Today was a day for festivities, but that also meant that I had to be vigilant.

The streets of Piltover were bustling with activity.

Everyone was celebrating all of the progress Piltover has made since its first inception two-hundred years ago.

Currently, I could hear my Mother talking about Jayce and his Hexgates...

"Our most famous protege, Jayce Talis. The visionary behind the Hexgates, a beacon of trade and prosperity for our great City of Progress." My mother praised.

"Excuse me. Sorry, sorry, excuse me." Jayce said.

"He's a very busy man." My Mother tried to explain.

I knew it was coming, but I still thought he would know better to do what he was about to do...

But I felt...

A flick to my hat, so I spun around quickly and efficiently to grab Jayce's arm in a hold that had him grunting.

And I didn't even expend that much energy!

"Cait." Jayce said as he gazed up at me from his lowered position.

"Serves you right." I said with a smirk on my face.

I looked up for a moment to see my Mother staring at, but I glanced away from her gaze and she went back to talking to the citizens around her.

I turned my back on her and went back to my post.

"Still avoiding her?" Jayce asked.

"I'm working." I replied coolly.

"Oh, I can see that. I mean there's so much crime to thwart outside your family's tent." Jayce snarked.

I wanted to roll my eyes.

Jayce could get on my last nerve some days...

"I can only imagine the strings she pulled to have me posted here." I scoffed as I surveyed the area.

"It's your fault really, for not following her into a career 'more befitting of your station.'"

I grunted at his teasing words.

"She'd do anything to keep me from seeing the real world." I said bitterly.

"Well, at least you'll have front-row seats to the speech." Jayce said proudly.

I turned around and raised my eyebrow at him

"Speech?" I repeated as a smirk made its way onto my face.

"Mm-hmm. I'm giving the big address tonight." Jayce touted.

"Hmmm... We really have descended to anarchy." I snarked.

"Have fun herding drunkards!" Jayce retorted with a chuckle as he made a silly face.

I made the same face back and he walked off to no doubt return to my Mother.

It was time.

Ekko and I were in the docking areas vents.
