LILITH
I couldn't stop giggling.
Laying on bed, I kicked my feet while covering my face with my soft brown pillow.
I rolled over the covers when I thought back of Thursday afternoon.
I'd been kissed. By a man. On the forehead.
I sat upright when my body began to feel warm as I recalled every detail of that day.
Staring into space, I could still feel how his soft lips touched my forehead.
I giggled again, this time reaching for the beautiful hair pin he'd given me.
I couldn't believe he'd gifted me such an expensive ornament. It was so valuable.
I walked over to my dressing table and tying up my curls in a low pony tail, I tried the pin on my hair.
It was pretty. I struck a few poses in front of my mirror, all the while smiling at the shiny item in my hair.
There was no one home to witness me behaving like a teenage girl who had just heard back from their crush.
I wouldn't care if anyone were to see me. The main point was that a man had finally showed interest in me.
It was embarrassing for me to say that after twenty six years of living, this was the closest I'd ever been with a man.
Lorenzo had unexpectedly showed up in my life a few months ago and I now couldn't remember what life was before that.
The emerald color of my scrunchie reminded me of his eyes that softened each time we held hands.
The warmth of his hands seemed to spread all over my body just by thinking of him.
He was a remarkable man. I had never paid close attention to men in general but I could mention some of his qualities that stood out to me.
He was attentive. I had never heard of a man who was able to tell apart the textures of different fabrics, unless they were working in that industry.
I knew Lorenzo was not so to see him buy me a dress in the exact material as what I usually wore was a great shock to me.
He was caring, kind hearted, amazing even but when he asked for my consent for the smallest of things, my stomach did a flip every single time.
Whether it was just for a hug, holding hands or even asking if he'd name his cat after the name I'd suggested.
I found that so attractive.
I would have gone on and on about the traits I liked about him but the door bell rang and my phone vibrated, forcing me out of my fantasies.
Hazel : I'm at your door
I ran down the stairs to open the door after reading her message. She must have travelled overnight if she was already here.
"Bestie!" Her arms spread over my back in a hug the moment the door opened. I returned the hug with the same enthusiasm.
"Hazel! I missed you girl." I pulled myself out of the hug and smiled at her as I adjusted her messy hair.
"I missed you Lily," we hugged for a second time, this time swinging our bodies together as we giggled.
"You're here early," I looked at the small bag she'd brought and then pulled away to look at her face.
She was tired. Her eyes were almost drooping but her expressions remained vibrant.
