Yoongi's meeting with the social worker felt like a necessary step, a way to reclaim some control over his life. As he sat in the small, cluttered office and laid out his situation, his voice wavered between determination and vulnerability. The social worker had listened attentively, offering invaluable advice and presenting solutions and resources Yoongi hadn't even considered.
It had been a productive meeting, yet Yoongi couldn't shake the feeling that he was betraying Namjoon's trust. Returning to their new apartment, he was greeted by Namjoon's beaming smile—a stark reminder of the genuine care and affection that awaited him. As they settled into their shared space, Yoongi wrestled with conflicting emotions, torn between gratitude and the urge to stand on his own.
"Namjoon... I went to the BTS center today," Yoongi admitted, his voice quiet yet resolute, as they stood in the kitchen preparing ingredients for lunch.
Namjoon, busy cleaning vegetables and preparing the meat and sauces, looked up with curiosity. Yoongi was peeling and slicing the vegetables and meat, his hands moving methodically.
"Oh... How did it go?" Namjoon asked, his tone gentle but intrigued.
"It went... well. I got information that I had no idea about. The truth is, I don't know much about my situation or the resources I'm entitled to. You know I struggle to accept your unconditional help, and I really just wanted to know my options," Yoongi explained, his words a blend of relief and apprehension, as he slowed the movements of his slicing.
Namjoon paused for a moment, his eyes glancing over to Yoongi, but he quickly resumed his task, listening intently. "Hyung, you don't have to explain. You're more than allowed to seek your own resources. My help and support will be unwavering and ever-present, no matter what," he said, his voice steady and reassuring.
"I know, and I'm learning to accept that." Yoongi admitted. "But I have good news," He beamed, feeling a surge of excitement, stopping his task altogether to look at Namjoon.
"Tell me!" Namjoon encouraged, his curiosity piqued, turning back to him with his dimpled smile that never failed to make Yoongi's heart skip a beat.
"So, it turns out I can apply for a minority scholarship, and they'll pay for half the rent and half my expenses," Yoongi shared, his eyes sparkling with newfound hope.
"Wait, you didn't have that scholarship already?" Namjoon asked, blinking in surprise.
"No. I had no idea about it, actually," Yoongi admitted, shaking his head, and swiftly resuming his task.
"Wow! I never thought to ask, but it explains why you felt so stuck and constricted before. I'm so sorry," Namjoon said, a hint of regret in his voice.
"What are you apologizing for, silly?" Yoongi chuckled, feeling lighter for having finally shared. "None of this is your fault."
"Because I knew about the scholarship since Tae got one! I should've realized you might not know about it or that you didn't have the scholarship," Namjoon explained, his voice filled with genuine concern.
