The Bootcamp Mentors are proud to present a spotlight interview with Fionafel, author of Celestial Dawn. Check out this writer's works and give them a shout out in the comments.

BCM: What prompted you to start writing on Wattpad and what do you like most about the platform as a writer?

Fionafel: I knew about Wattpad for a couple of years and in 2020 I registered an account to read. I was obsessed with some of the stories on there for a while, so it was my first choice of app when I decided to start writing. Even online research led me to believe that out of all the book platforms out there, Wattpad is the least shady, so I trusted them the most.

BCM: How did you discover the Bootcamp Mentors and what have you found most valuable about this Wattpad community program?

Fionafel: I didn't know BCM existed until I saw one of the mentors I follow posting about it (Alex). I did my research and at first I didn't think it was for me mainly because I thought posting in the 8 chapter challenge was a mandatory part, but then as time passed and the application deadline approached, I thought more about it. The Q&A before the applications really helped me decide to try out.

The most valuable thing I learned from this program is that there are definitely good people out there, who just do things to help others. It has returned my faith in people (in general). I also learned a lot of things about writing from my mentor and I can never thank her enough.

BCM: What motivated you to write the story you're working on with your mentor?

Fionafel: An episode of the TV show "Supernatural." I won't go into details about the episode, but the idea came to me out of the blue after watching it and I asked myself "What would happen if it was reversed?". I combined it with some different tropes I like to read about and created the idea. I didn't think I would be this attached to the characters. My first thought was this would be a short story to just try out writing in general, but then I gave them backstories and personalities that I love...Yeah, it's not going to be a short story :D

BCM: If you had to describe your story in three words, what would they be?

Fionafel: Family, acceptance, love

BCM: Tell us one thing about your writing process that has helped you the most.

Fionafel: Quiet. I found that I get easily distracted and someone always wants you to do something that ruins your concentration. The one thing that helped me the most was to isolate myself for a couple of hours with my headphones on and to just write until the scene is finished, or chapter.

BCM: Share two Wattpad story recommendations.

Fionafel: I enjoyed these two stories very much and read them recently:

A Promise of Death by Blake Alexander darthowl and An Order of Death | ONC 2024 by Dee S. -DeeIsDead-

Thank you, Fionafel. We wish you all the best in your writing endeavors.
