BCM: What prompted you to start writing on Wattpad and what do you like most about the platform as a writer?
Jess: I began my writing journey on Wattpad in 2017. I was looking for a platform where I could express myself and share my writing with a broader audience. Wattpad stood out to me because it provides a unique space for writers and readers to connect. What I love most about Wattpad is the supportive community. Sharing my work on the platform allows me to receive feedback and engage with readers and fellow writers. This interaction not only motivates me but also helps me improve my writing skills.
BCM: How did you discover the Bootcamp Mentors and what have you found most valuable about this Wattpad community program?
Jess: I discovered the Bootcamp Mentors through the Community Hub Initiative on Wattpad. It was an excellent opportunity for me to enhance my writing skills, so I joined the program. The mentoring session has been incredibly valuable. I've received fantastic advice on structuring my outline and improving my general writing skills. The personalized feedback and support from an experienced writer has significantly boosted my confidence and helped me grow as a writer.
BCM: What motivated you to write the story you're working on with your mentor?
Jess: This project had been on my mind for quite a long time, and I felt it was finally the right moment to start it. Working with a mentor provided the perfect opportunity to develop a solid outline and motivate myself to not only begin the project but also see it through to completion. Many of my previous projects were started but left unfinished or unedited. My goal with this mentorship was to break that pattern, starting and continuing the project during the session and beyond.
BCM: If you had to describe your story in three words, what would they be?
Jess: I would describe my story as adventurous, emotional and magical.
BCM: Tell us one thing about your writing process that has helped you the most.
Jess: One key aspect of my writing process that has helped me the most is setting a regular writing schedule. Dedicating specific times each day or week solely for writing has significantly boosted my productivity and creativity. This consistency not only helps me maintain momentum but also makes it easier to develop ideas and see my projects through to completion. Additionally, setting aside time to read over my mentor's advice and continuously work on implementing their feedback has been incredibly beneficial. It has provided me with valuable insights and helped me improve my writing skills more effectively.
