Chapter Eight

Audrey's POV:

"Honey did you hear another two bodies have been found in the woods?" My mom said to me as I sat down for breakfast.

"Yeah. Kinda scary."

"Kinda? Sweetheart I want you to be very careful. All the bodies have been young people like yourself. I want you to be extra careful tonight at the football game and party."

"Fine." I took a sip of my orange juice.

"Your mother's right honey. You're lucky we're letting you go tonight. Especially after breaking up with Noah."

Here we go again.

I rolled my eyes. "What does he have going to do with anything."

"He's a big boy. Capable of protecting you."

I scoffed.

"We're just looking out for you. We want to make sure our baby is safe." My mother rubbed my shoulder.

"You do know he lost two fights with a girl in the same week right?"

"He let her win honey." My father looked up from his newspaper. "He's a gentleman. Beating a girl up is not gentleman-like."

"But he started both of the fights."

"Audrey. No he didn't, his father said that Barbatus girl did."

"Barbatus?" My mother said. "I didn't know that freaky family was back." She sipped her coffee.

"Why are they freaky?"

"It's nothing sweetheart." She brushed me off. "I have to wake your sister. You should get to school. Don't want to be late."

"Yes mom."

I made my way into school and saw my friends by our lockers.

"You excited for the game tonight Captain?" Charlotte giggled.

"Of course!"

It was Friday today and we were having our first football game. I hope they don't suck like they last year.

"I know you're excited to see Randalf in that uniform." Aurora smirked.

Charlotte blushed. "Y'all are so cute!" Isabelle said.

"Speaking of Randalf, you know who else is gonna be at the game?" Aurora said.

For some reason Reynold had returned to her usual snarky self this week. I'm not complaining though. She's much easier to deal with now. Recently we've been getting along sorta. Only when she's not bugging me.

I rolled my eyes. "I'm gonna stop you there."

They laughed. "You've seen the way she's been looking at you right?" Charlotte said.

"More like staring. Constantly staring." Aurora smirked.

"Have you admitted she's attractive yet?" Isabelle said. "I mean I don't even like her but I see it."

"Ok fine. She is attractive by that's it."

"Sure."

"I've been going through old journals from our families and found something interesting about the Barbatus and Beaumont lines. It seems like every time a Barbatus comes into town, they always get with a Beaumont." Charlotte smirked.

"Oh so it's fate." Aurora said.

"Seems like it." Isabelle shrugged.

"Seems like what?" We heard a voice from behind us.
