Reynold's POV:

How could I be so stupid?

I completely showed off my abilities because of some girl I promised to protect.

It was currently 3 AM and I was staring out my bedroom window holding my third bottle of scotch.

"What the fuck did you do?" Killian shouted and barged into my room. Ambrose was right on his tail.

"It had to be done." I continued looking out the window and took a swig from the bottle.

"No it didn't." He scoffed. "There were so many different ways to handle the situation! First by not threatening her boy-"

"Do not criticize my actions brother! You do not get to barge into my room and yell at me in my house because you disagree with something I did! What I did was necessary for the situation I was given!" I turned around and shouted at him.

"Who put you in that situation? Hmm? You did sister! You fucking did!" I got closer to him.

"Don't you think I fucking know that! But I will not be penalized for keeping my word. I vowed to protect that girl and I will!" We were face to face by now with glares on our faces.

"You guys need to calm down." Ambrose said and stepped in between us. "Killian you need to accept that Reynold did what was necessary and Reynold you need to accept that your own actions put you in a situation that could've revealed your vampirism." He looked between us.

"Fine." Killian grunted and stepped back.

They waited for my response.

"Reynold..."

"Fine."

"Great! Now we can all be one big happy family." Ambrose said sarcastically.

"What are we gonna do about that stunt you pulled earlier though? We can't compel everyone who saw." Killian walked over to my mini bar and poured himself a drink.

"Let's just ignore the situation and let it fly over. Humans always have something new to talk about. What do you say?"

"That works." Ambrose said and Killian nodded. "But what are you gonna tell Audrey."

Audrey. Audrey fucking Beaumont is killing me slowly.

"I don't know..."

"Wow. Reynold Barbatus doesn't know what to do for once! Someone put that in the history books." Jago appeared at the door.

I chuckled. "Where is everyone else?"

"They're downstairs. We know how you get in these types of situations. Don't want to poke the bear."

"You guys know me too well." I shook my head.

"That's what happens when we've been stuck with your ass for hundreds of years." He smirked.

"Hey you could've left but I guess you like the show." I shrugged.

"True. I'm going to tell everyone everything's fine now. See ya." Jago walked away.

"Back to the problem." Killian began. "What is with you and that Beaumont girl? I get you gave your word but I don't think it includes what you've been doing."

"It doesn't but something about this girl... she fascinates me like no human has in a very long time."

"Hmm interesting." Ambrose said. "Maybe you have a little human crush." He teased causing Killian to laugh too.

"Very funny. You know I said I would never love again since her." I took one last gulp of my now empty scotch bottle and tossed it into the trash.

"Who said anything about love? Just act on your impulses." Killian said. "You do that a lot." He took a sip of his drink.
