Audrey's POV:

It's been nearly two weeks since Reynold kissed me and it's been on my mind ever since. The memory of it brought a flush to my cheeks and a smile to my lips.

Her touch was hesitant at first, fingers brushed my cheeks, then her lips met mine with a mix of urgency and tenderness that made my heart race. The warmth of her kiss made everything fade away.

Nothing had ever felt so perfect.

After that day, I haven't seen Reynold. She hasn't been at school and I even went over to her house. She wasn't there. She wasn't anywhere.

Is it because of what I said? I don't know why I did that but I guess the idea of her rejecting me scared me.

It was now a Friday and I was walking to my locker.

"Hey Audrey! You ready for tonight?" Isabelle asked.

Tonight was going to be the biggest football game of the year. We are playing Darien, our biggest rivals. They have beaten us every year. Thankfully, the team's looking good this year and actually might have a chance.

"Yeah I am." I smiled. I heard the bell ring.

"Well, see you later." Charlotte said as we headed our separate ways.

Thankfully, the girls stopped asking about Reynold. They figured it was a sensitive subject by the way I kept dodging questions about her. I know it's wrong but I haven't told them about the kiss. I know they'll freak and I just don't want to deal with that right now.

On the way over to class, I saw Killian and Ambrose standing by their lockers talking in a secretive manner. I didn't really think anything of it until I heard her name.

Every time I asked them where she was, they always said that some emergency came up and she didn't have time to explain.

"What could she possibly be doing that would take two goddamn weeks? And no fucking note or anything." Killian said in a seething whisper.

I pretended to fill up my water bottle as I listened.

"Look, I'm just as clueless as you but we can't freak out. She must have a good reason." Ambrose tried to calm Killian down.

He sighed. "You're probably right, but what if something happens to her?"

Ambrose began chuckling. "You really think someone could hurt Reynold Barbatus? If they do, I feel sorry for them."

They're talking about Reynold, the highschool student, Reynold, right?

Killian joined in his laughter. "Yeah you're right."

Ambrose patted his shoulder. "Don't worry about her. Whatever she's doing, there must be a reason."

Killian nodded. "That's true but it's just weird for her to up and go. She's never just done that before."

"I know but we gotta be patient. She'll be back soon and tell us everything."

"Let's hope she's back soon."

They walked away while I went through their conversation. So they don't even know where Reynold went? Great. That's just great. Is it my fault she left? And what about the danger stuff? What could she be doing that she might die from?

I was pulled out of my thoughts by someone putting their hand on my shoulder. "Audrey, you're gonna be late to class." Charlie, the boy from history, smiled.

"Oh thank you."

"Let me walk with you."

We walked in silence til he decided to speak up. "So are you coming to our game tonight?"
