Sydney drove the two back to their apartments, Paige asking questions like how if Sydney was okay the whole ride home. "Forget about me Syd, your the one who got fucking approached, I was about to fucking kill that guy!" Paige said running her hands through her hair. Sydney swung through the dorm parking lot, quickly parking and rushing the two up to Paige's dorm.
"Go to your room" Sydney told the girl, who obeyed. Sydney swung open ever cabinet in Paige's dorm kitchen till she found the medical one. She grabbed the first aid kit and ran into Paige's room. Paige was sitting on her bed, half asleep.
Sydney sat down next to the girl and opened the first aid kit. "Listen Sydney, I'm really sorry that happened to you. I know how uncomfortable it can be-" Paige goes on to say but Sydney shuts her up by placing a disinfecting wipe on the small bloody cut on her cheek, making Paige groan at the stingy feeling. "Ouch! Warning!" Paige winced in pain.
"Paige stop apologizing, it's not your fault he came up to me. Thanks for rescuing me and I'm sorry he punched you!" Sydney said, ignoring Paige's icey blue eyes staring at her. Sydney stood up and stepped in between Paige's legs that were hanging off the side of the bed. Sydney grabbed Paige's chin, tilting it up for Sydney to place some Neosporin on the cut. She quickly placed a small band aid on Paige's cheek. Paige's eyes stared deeply into Sydney's, keeping an eye on her every move. Sydney forced herself to not make eye contact with Paige, looking every direction possible, but at Paige.
Paige took one of her hands and put it on Sydney's jaw. Paige leaned Sydney's face to look at hers. Finally making eye contact, Sydney could see the difference in Paige's eye color, usually a kind, friendly, childhood, blue sky, but now they look cold and dark, but in a comforting way. They held eye contact, Sydney picked up on how Paige would look at Sydney's lips then back up at her eyes.
Sydney was obsessed with Paige, her eyes, her lips, her hair, the small patch of freckles on her nose, the way she smiled when she saw a fresh box of un opened tru fru. She was falling in love with her, all over again, just like she did in high school. Sydney was in love with Paige Bueckers and she always have and always will.
Before anything could happen, Paige stopped herself. Sydney was her best friend and she obviously didn't like girls like that. I mean Paige already tested that out. "Thank you Busta" Paige smiled, as Sydney ran off to the bathroom to hide her blushing cheeks.
What the hell Syd, she's your best friend, why are you blushing, get it together Sydney told herself as she looked in the mirror, pulling her hair into a messy bun. A hairstyle Paige secretly loved and made her weak in the knees.
"BUSTER COME BACK!" Paige yelled, Sydney stepped out of the bathroom to find Paige all snuggled under the blankets of her bed. "I'll let you pick the movie??" Paige said once she saw Sydney walking over to the bed, she shook the tv clicker as a tease. Sydney couldn't resist, she distanced herself far from Paige, almost falling of the bed.
Paige's love language was physical touch, she loved hugs and all of that, so that being she snarled at Sydney's distance and pulled her in for a hug.
The girls turned on Mamma Mia, Sydney's favorite movie and halfway through, Sydney got a craving. "Hey Rambo, do you have marshmallows?" Sydney asked her best friend. "Ya, why?" She responded. Sydney untangled herself from Paige's arms and ran out the room to the kitchen.
Sydney ambled through the pantry, looking for supplies to make s'mores. She got a sudden craving and when she craves she craves. Sydney grabbed a fork and stabbed it through the marshmallow. She turned on the stove and slowly turned it around the gas stove fire.
She felt Paige's arms snake around her waist, Paige leaned her head on the girls shoulder. Paige used to always be cuddly like this back in high school, but this time it felt different, like more romantic different. Sydney had butterflies in her stomach and was blushing, different.
"Watcha makin?" She asked, breaking a graham cracker and popping it in her mouth. Sydney could feel Paige's jaw moving as it was leaned on her shoulder. "S'mores" She told the girl that was practically, hugging her. "Craving?" paige question, laughing, already knowing the answer to her question. "Ya" Sydney laughed "you have the most random cravings" Paige said, peeling her body off of Sydney's, making Sydney feel cold because her warm body left.
"Do you have chocolate? Like a Herseys bar?" Sydney asked, turning around to see Paige sat up on the counter. "Ya, in the medicine cabinet, next to the fridge, Azzi put it in there because she gets mad cravings on her period and likes to have it next to the Advil." Paige said, snaking on a bag of goldfish.
Sydney grabbed a bar of chocolate, breaking a part of and placing it on a graham cracker. Sydney pulled the marshmallow off of the fork, picking up the s'more and taking a huge bite of it. "Mmmmh" Tegan moaned in satisfaction.
Paige laughed and hopped of the counter, coming close to the girls face. She lifted her hand, gently using her thumb to wipe the girls skin, next to her lips. Sydney stared into the girls blue eyes, Paige looking at the girls wipe as she wipped melted marshmallow off of the corner of Sydney's lip. Paige looked back into Sydney's eyes, the same eyes she fell in love with back in high school.
This was it, the moment Paige knew, she was still madly in love with her best friend. "Hey Pa- oh hiii" Azzi said drunkly, looking at the two girls who were extremely close to each other. The two immediately backed away from each other, acting like nothing was happening. Azzi closed the door behind her and swung her purse around, smirking. "I always had a feeling about you two" She said pointing her finger in their faces. Paige gave her a look, but Azzi was too drunk to notice.
"So did yall used to fuck on the low, orrr" She asked them, sitting down at a barstool, leaning her arms on the counter. "AZ!" Paige snapped, grabbing Sydney's arm and dragging her into her room. "Sorry about her, she's insane when she's drunk!" Paige said, throwing the blankets over her body.
Paige watched her best friend, stand at the top of her bed, uncomfortable at what Azzi had just said to them. Paige patted the seat next to her, signaling the girl to join her. Sydney slipped under the covers to continue watching Mamma Mia. Paige leaned her head on the girls shoulder, eventually falling asleep.
