The girls finally pushed past the tough current, and they have fallen into a deep conversation on the way. "I don't really wanna go back, can we just keep padding and talking?" Paige asked as the dock came into view. "Obviously" Sydney laughed. Her and Paige could talk for hours and would never run out of things to talk about. They truly just enjoyed each others company.
"So about Aubrey, what were you saying?" Paige asked her best friend who was recently talking. Sydney was laying down on the board in front of Paige, her face lying right above Paige's body. Sydney kept her sunglasses on, over her eyes so she could stare at the girls face above her, without her knowing. "Oh so basically she told me that she couldn't come because she already promised her girlfriend to hangout. And I literally like jumped when she said 'girlfriend' because I had no clue she was gay" Sydney explained.
Paige laughed at the girl below her, "ya you're not really good at reading people" Paige smirked as she paddled around the lake. "That's a lie, I can read you pretty damn well" Sydney laughed. "Mmm" Paige questioned. "Paige Madison! What are you hiding from me!" Sydney shot up, facing the girl. Paige smirked, and looked at the girl in her eyes, somehow she knew exactly where her eyes were, even under sunglasses.
"Syd, if you didn't read that Aubrey was gay-" Paige hesitated, and paused. "What? If I didn't read that Aubrey was gay, what?" Sydney asked. "Nvm it's nothin" Pauge huffed, looking away. "Paige, you know you can talk to me, no matter what" Sydney said, laying back down. A minute of silence goes by, the only sound is the water getting swooshed around by the paddle.
"Sydney, I'm gay, I like girls" Paige blurted out. Sydney's jaw dropped. What? How did I not catch this. Sydney thought, blaming herself for not finding out sooner. "P! I'm so happy for you" Sydney said, sitting up, hugging the girl. "I'm so proud of you and I'm so glad that you can tell me these things. I want you to know that im always gonna be here for you, okay? You can never get rid of me, and I'm not gonna pretend like I didn't watch every single one of your games when we were in that fight. Anyways, How long have you known?" Sydney rambled on.
"Thanks, about two years now but I haven't told anyone but you yet. But I'm pretty sure my parents have a hint" Paige laughed, wiping a happy tear off her face. Sydney smiled and hugged the girl again. Two years ago, two years ago was when they kissed, had Paige been lesbian for Sydney?!
As the girls were hugging, Sydney suddenly felt a burst of cold water hit her skin. She came up from the surface, wiping the hair out of her face. Paige was still sitting on the paddle board, laughing her ass off. "You did not just push me in!" Sydney joked. "I'm sowwy" Paige said, giving the girl puppy eyes. Paige stuck her hand out to help the girl up, Sydney gladly taking it but instead of hyping herself back up she pulled Paige's arm down into the water with her.
"Seriously Buster!" Paige screamed after coming back up from the surface. Sydney sensed her anger and playfully screamed. Sydney kicked as fast as she could, swimming away from the angry girl. Paige being competitive Paige, she caught up to the girl in the water and playfully tackled her.
"Alright, alright" Sydney said. "Now we gotta swim back to the board" Sydney said being serious. Paige looked behind her to see he board floating. It wasn't far but still, the water was freezing.
The girls eventually made their way back to the boat, the packed up all the boards and water floats and headed back to their dock.
"I'm grilling hotdogs and burgers, who wants what?" Bob said as they tied up the boat to the dock. Everyone placed their orders and Bob and Sydney's dad went off to cook them. "Wanna bike to Cocos beach?" Paige asked Riley, Lyla, and Sydney. "Ah yes! I haven't been to that beach in like forever!" Sydney happily said as the four girls ran off to the Bueckers garage.
