"What's got you so sad Lizzie?" Natalie had asked, sitting next to Elizabeth, who was looking down at her shoes in the locker room.

They had just had practice, one where Elizabeth fucked up left, right and center.
She hadn't been able to focus since she got a C on her AP History test.

A fucking C.
Her parents were going to kill her, she knew that for a fact.
She had the paper clutched in her hands, the big red letter taunting her.
"Look, you fumbled on the field, so what? So did everyone else."
Elizabeth just shakes her head, passing Natalie the paper.
"Oh, oh Lizzie, it's okay-"
"No Nat, my parents are going to kill me. They freaked out when I got a B+, they are going to kill me Nat"  she said, her voice cracking. "They are actually going to kill me"
"Lizzie, you're 16. Your parents are putting way too much pressure on you. They, and you, can't expect you to be perfect all the time"
Elizabeth shakes her head, tears streaming down her face. "I'm such a failure"
"Hey! Don't talk about yourself  that way. You're not a failure, you're a kid, you make mistakes and got a bad score on one test, big deal"
Elizabeth couldn't help the tears that fell from her eyes. Natalie bit her lip as she pulled the shorter girl into a tight hug.

"I love you Lizzie, I hope you know, I'll always be proud of you. Just remember that, okay?"
"Okay"

"Elizabeth"
The blonde snapped her head up, her mother standing there, hands on her hips.
"Sorry"
"Did you hear a single thing your father and I had said?"
Elizabeth shakes her head, causing her mother to scoff.
"This is the most important game of your life, don't screw it up" her father says before getting up from the table.
"Great pep talk dad" she mumbles, leaving her  breakfast plate untouched.
"Get your stuff and get in the car" her mother grabs her keys, leaving the girl sitting alone at the table.

Elizabeth makes sure she has everything, making sure to pack Natalie's jacket, figuring she'd probably want it back.
She takes a breath, taking her backpack and suitcase downstairs, loading them in the car before sitting in the passenger seat.
The mother-daughter duo sat in silence, Elizabeth biting her nails.

"Would you stop that Elizabeth. You're ruining your nail polish."
"Sorry,"
Her mother sighs, "Please, don't screw this up Elizabeth. Your coach says you haven't been giving it your all. You cannot lose this game and be the reason your team doesn't win. It's bad enough you were co captain and not captain this year"
"I'm going to give it my all mom, I promise"
"Promises aren't good enough." she states, looking over to her daughter.
"I don't-"
"I want you to not disappoint us Elizabeth. That's what I want from you. Are capable of doing that?" her mother pulled into the airport, stopping the car at a holt.
"Why are you doing this?" Elizabeth asks. "I mean, are you trying to get in my head so I lose mom? Because every time you and dad give me these talks, that's when I mess up."
"Guess I'm just a terrible mother"

"Maybe you are"
Elizabeth's mother glared at the girl, "What did you just say?"
"That maybe you are a terrible mother"
Elizabeth's mom rolled her tongue over her teeth.
"No Elizabeth, you're just a terrible daughter"
Elizabeth looked up at her mother, tears in her eyes. "I fucking hate you"

With that, Elizabeth got out of the car, grabbing her bags and made her way into the airport.

~~~
Elizabeth stepped on the plane, one that Lottie's father had rented out for them.
Elizabeth made her way over to Natalie, "Hey,"
"Hi Lizzie, you ready for this shit?"
"I don't think I'll ever be ready for this," she laughs.
Natalie smiles, "So, are you going to just stand there or are you going to sit with me?"
Elizabeth smiles and sits next to the bleached blonde.
"Hey, you okay?" Natalie asks.
"Why wouldn't I be?"
Natalie shrugs, "I mean, I'm just assuming your parents gave you just an amazing pep talk before this"
"I told my mother I hated her before I left"
Natalie can't help but let out a surprised laugh. "No way, really?"
Elizabeth nods, "I feel bad"
"Don't. No offence, but your mom kinda sucks" she says as the pilot began coming in over the intercom.
"I made you a mixtape, figured you'd probably get bored of your Queen and ABBA" Natalie teases, handing the girl the tape.
"Aw, thanks"
"Don't mention it"
~~~

Elizabeth had dosed off on Natalie's shoulder, being awoken by a shake, slowly opening her eyes, seeing utter fucking chaos.
Masks were down, lights were flashing and everyone was screaming.
She looked over, Natalie seeming to just wake up too.
"What the fuck!?" she cried in horror, still a bit out of it. Elizabeth grabbed the mask, putting in on Natalie.
Elizabeth put her mask on, trying to remain calm.
The plane was violently shaking, Elizabeth clutched onto Natalie's arm, holding onto her tightly.

They were on the verge of crashing violently to the ground. Elizabeth screamed as she felt something sharp pierce her skin and her head violently hit the seat.
Elizabeth looked over at Natalie, who was hyperventilating and had tears streaming down her face.
Elizabeth looked out the window, they were almost at the ground, it was only a matter of seconds.
Without thinking, Elizabeth unbuckled, shielding Natalie as the plane violently jerked. She held onto Natalie tightly as they crashed to the ground.

~~~
Elizabeth opened her eyes, Natalie clutching onto her tightly. Looking over, she see's a big metal piece through the seat she was sitting in. Another one trapping Natalie and Elizabeth in the seat they were in.
Smoke and fire was everywhere, everyone was screaming and crying, Elizabeth let out a cough as smoke filled her lungs.
"Please god," she heard Natalie sob,
"Nat,"
"I'm scared Lizzie, I don't want to die"
"We won't, I'm here Nat, we gotta go"
 Elizabeth carefully climbed off her, being able to slip through the metal piece, but Natalie was still trapped.
"Come on Nat, you have to help me," she says as she tried to push some of the metal off the girl. Her and Natalie thankfully moved the piece, Elizabeth sighing in relief. Elizabeth then reaches for her grabbing Natalie and moving them towards the door Taissa, Misty and the rest of the girls were desperately trying to open.
Elizabeth wrapped her arm around Natalie, helping the girl out of the plane.
"Holy fuck" Natalie cried, clutching onto Elizabeth's arm, staring at all the blood on Elizabeth's face.
Elizabeth looked around, trying to see if everyone made it out.
"There was nothing we could do Shauna!" she heard Jackie yell.
"Woah, wait, what happened?" Elizabeth asked.
'Van...she's still in there" Shauna gasps.
Elizabeth looks at the burning plane, "Lizzie no," Natalie shakes her head.
Elizabeth looks at Natalie, then back at the plane. "I'm sorry. I have to," she says, sprinting back into the plane.
"Elizabeth no!" she hears Natalie scream before she ran into the plane.
Using her shirt to cover her face, she runs in, finding Van screaming for help, stuck in the seats.
"Van. Van I'm here,"
"I'm stuck Liza, I don't want to die."
"You won't! You won't!" Elizabeth says as she and Van try to get her unstuck.
Just as they managed to get Van free, a small explosion occurs right where they were.
Elizabeth wraps Van's arm around her shoulder, helping the redhead out of the burning plane.
Once they got out, Van hugs the girl tightly.
"Holy fuck, you just saved my fucking life. Talk about picking a good best friend"
Elizabeth smiles, hugging the girl back.
"Van" Jackie gasps.
Van pulls away from Elizabeth. "Surprise"
"Van!"
Taissa runs up, hugging the girl from behind.
Elizabeth stumbles back when Natalie also crashes into her.
"Elizabeth! You fucking idiot! Don't fucking scare me like that" Natalie hugged her tighter than Elizabeth's ever been hugged in her life.
Elizabeth hugged the girl back tightly, running her hands through Natalie's hair to calm her down as she felt Natalie's tears on her shoulder.
"I'm here Nat, it's okay,"
Natalie held on tightly, scared if she let go Elizabeth would disappear. "I got you Natalie, you're safe"
Natalie pulled away, looking at the girl tearfully, "God you're an idiot" she jokes, making Elizabeth smile, "I know,"
The girls turned around to the sound of screaming.
They knew that this was just the beginning.
