Elizabeth sat on her and Natalie's bed, a book sitting on her lap, but at this point, the words were all blurring together.
She looked down at her palms, crimson, crescent marks stared back at her.

"I'm not use to seeing you like this,"
Elizabeth looked up, Mari stood in front of her, "Like what?"
"Alone, without your little guard dog,"
Elizabeth scoffed, not saying anything.

"What's wrong? Cat got your tongue?"
"No," Elizabeth shakes her head, "I'm just truly amazed at how much dumber you sound every time you speak,"
"So quick witted,"
"I'm surprised it's taken you this long to notice,"
"Funny. Now tell me, did your parents enjoy that wit?"
Elizabeth shot up, "What the fuck did you just say?"

"Guys," Van warns.
"Say that again,"
"I'm just saying,"
"Well you better not continue saying whatever fucked up thoughts are running through your head,"
Mari tilts her head, Elizabeth digs her nails into her palms again.

"Mari, back the fuck off," Taissa says,
"I mean, it's no wonder why you and Nat ended up together. You both had deadbeat fathers who do nothing but hit-"
Elizabeth couldn't suppress her anger any longer, she lunged at Mari, only to be grabbed by Van.
"You fucking bitch! Let me go Van!"
"Calm the fuck down! Both of you!" Taissa snaps.
Elizabeth pushes Van off her, glaring daggers at Mari.

"Guys, I found a fucking moose! Natalie bursts through the door.
"Found? Did you kill it?" Elizabeth asks.
Natalie pants, "No, it's dead, it's frozen in the surface of the lake. I'm going to need a lot of help to get it out,"
"On it, lets go," Elizabeth says, no questions asked about having her girlfriends back. "Everyone dress as warmly as you can-"
"Hey!" Mari exclaims, "I thought the rule was no assistance"

"Oh my god, shut the fuck up Mari!" Elizabeth snapped, turning around. "This is food! Fucking food! It's what we need to fucking survive! So get your head out of your fucking ass and fucking help!"

"If we can get this moose out, it can feed us till spring." Natalie pleads to them.
"Misty, you set the fucking rules. I'll tell Lottie,"
"Go for it. Tell her I didn't want us to fucking starve,"
Elizabeth bundles up and heads out.

~~~
Elizabeth helped break open the ice, revealing the moose slowly but surely.
"The rope! Come on!" Natalie yells.
Elizabeth gets up, helping with the rope, tugging harshly on it as she feels the moose begin to slip into the water.
"Pull harder!" Natalie cries.
They pull with all their strength, but Misty slips.
Like a line of dominos, everyone begins to slip and lose grip, the moose descends into the water.
"No!" Natalie cries, falling into the water.
Elizabeth got up, pulling Natalie out quickly.
"No!" she sobs, shaking, "We need it, we need it," she sobs.
"It's gone Nat, it's gone," she holds the sobbing girl.
"No, we need it, we need it," she sobs.
Elizabeth tugs off one of her jackets, wrapping it around Natalie, helping her up, holding the sobbing girl as they made their way back to the cabin.
~~~

The girls set Natalie in their makeshift tub, adding boiling water to keep the shivering girl warm.
Elizabeth takes her hand as Natalie lets more tears stream down her face.
"I-I really had hope. Hope that we would get it,"
"I know,"
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry-"
"Shh, it's okay Nat, don't apologize,"

The two heard yelling in the other room, helping Natalie out of the tub, helping her dress, they are met with Lottie, freezing cold, barley moving.

"Get her back here, in the tub," Natalie shakes.
Natalie and Elizabeth help get the profit in the tub, Lottie cringing as the hot water touches her skin.
"I'll give you two a minute," Elizabeth kissed the girls forehead, walking out.

~~~
Elizabeth was holding Natalie by the fire, trying to keep the girl as warm as possible.
They all jumped when Tai and Van slammed the door open, Javi in between them.
"No, that's impossible," Shauna gasps.
Elizabeth feels Natalie tense in her arms, staring in horror.
"How the hell are you alive?" Travis asks, pulling his younger brother into a hug. "Javi, hey."
Javi stares blankly, not saying anything. "It's me. It's your brother."
Travis then shoots a glare to Natalie and Elizabeth, Natalie stands up and goes to walk away.
"This means Lottie was right. She's the one who said Javi was alive,"
"Three cheers for Lottie! Hip, hip-"
"Read the room Misty," Elizabeth says, her eyes locked on her girlfriend.
"Lottie knew he was alive, but Taissa knew where he was," Van pants.
"No, but I-"
"No. You can't deny this anymore. There is something deep inside you that is connected to all of this,"
Taissa just looks around, Travis brings his brother into another tight hug.
Things in the cabin were then tense, Natalie gave Elizabeth a sad, concerned look.
They both knew that they weren't close to being out of the woods yet.
