AUTHOR'S POV:
“Make it up to me.”
His voice cut through her pleading like a blade—low, abrupt, and completely unyielding.
Tanya blinked. “What?”
Her grip around his wrist loosened in confusion.
“I said…” he stepped closer, eyes locked on hers, “make it up to me.”
Before she could respond, he pulled her in again—closer this time, his hands gripping her arms, possessive and desperate, like he was holding onto more than just her body.
Like he was holding onto something slipping between them.
“How?” she breathed, her voice barely audible now.
His gaze dropped to her lips, then slowly returned to her eyes.
“Kiss me. Right here. Right now.”
His words weren’t a request. They were a challenge.
Their faces were just inches apart—breaths mingling, hearts pounding. Her chest rose and fell against his own in a frantic, unsteady rhythm. Their noses brushed, their lips almost, almost touching.
Tanya froze.
“But—” she began, suddenly aware of where they were.
The corridor wasn’t empty. A thin wooden balcony door separated them from the backyard where voices floated in from time to time. At any moment, someone could walk by.
And yet… the world felt narrowed to just him. Just them.
“Kiss me, Mrs. Tanya Anirudh Khanna,” his voice was low, dangerous, thick with restrained rage.
“Kiss me… unless you want me to do it in front of your not-so-important male best friend who just appeared out of nowhere.”
He stepped closer.
“Kiss me right here,” he continued, his words laced with a sharp, possessive edge, “unless you want me to do something in front of that bastard—something that'll leave you with flushed cheeks, swollen lips… and a purple neck.”
His grip on her arms tightened—not to hurt, but to anchor himself. To stop himself from doing exactly what he’d threatened.
“Kiss me right now… unless you want him to go back with a broken nose and a lifetime of regret for ever getting close to my wife.”
