AADHRITI'S POV :

“Chand se bhi zyada khubsurat aankhein hain unki. Aur ek woh hain jo unn nazaron ko utha kar humein dekhne ka takalluf tak nahi karte,” I smiled at my own thoughts.

(His eyes are more beautiful than the moon. And yet, he doesn’t even bother to lift those eyes to look at me.)

I walked over to the window of my room and perched myself on the sill, gazing up at the moon.

Why does he look so sad?
I just can’t bear to see him like that. He’s even hurt, his hand was injured.
He looks so beautiful when he smiles... why doesn’t he smile anymore?

Closing my eyes, I let the moonlight wash over me as I softly began to hum:

“Aaja piya tohe pyaar du,
Gori baiyan toh pe vaar du…”

I opened my eyes again, and all I could see was his face, his sadness etched so deeply in it. A lone tear escaped down my cheek as I continued humming:

“Kis liye tu itna udaas,
Sookhe sookhe hoth, aankhon mein pyaas...
Kis liye… kis liye…”

A faint smile tugged at my lips as memories of the moments we had shared flashed before my eyes. With a heart aching and full, I kept singing:

Aaja piya tohe pyaar du,
Gori baiyan toh pe vaar du…”

“Kis liye tu itna udaas,
Sookhe sookhe hoth, aankhon mein pyaas…
Kis liye… kis liye…”

I closed my eyes again, imagining him walking in through the door, wrapping his arms around me, silently answering all the questions my heart never stopped asking.

I stayed there by the window a little longer, wrapped in the warmth of memories and moonlight, before quietly making my way back to bed.
