AUTHOR'S POV :
The airport bustled with its usual chaos, suitcases rolling, car horns blaring, voices overlapping in hurried tones as travelers rushed toward their gates.
Ishan and Siddharth stood by the curb while the driver unloaded their luggage from the trunk. Ishan bent down, meticulously checking each bag one last time. His fingers moved with practiced precision, but his mind was elsewhere, lost in a whirlpool of memories and emotions he couldn’t seem to silence.
A faint, almost imperceptible smile curved his lips the kind that didn’t quite reach the eyes, but carried the weight of everything left unsaid. Who would have thought? The man he once viewed as his biggest enemy Siddharth, or Sunny, as he had known him had become his savior. The very person he’d resented with every fiber of his being had turned out to be his strongest ally.
For a fleeting moment, Ishan’s chest tightened. The thought of Shivay slipped into his mind like a splinter, sharp and sudden. Guilt crept in as he remembered their last conversation. Shivay, with his calm eyes and measured voice, had urged him to be patient, to think before he acted. But Ishan hadn’t listened. He’d pushed Shivay away in a fit of anger and pride, the one person who had never left his side.
And now, standing beside Siddharth, he couldn’t help but notice the uncanny similarities. The warmth, the teasing nature, the unshakable loyalty, Siddharth reminded him of Shivay in ways that were both comforting and agonizing.
Without warning, Siddharth pulled him into a tight hug. It happened so suddenly that Ishan froze in place, stunned and uncertain of what to do. He wasn’t a touchy or hug-type person, never had been. His family and Aadhriti were the only exceptions.
The embrace was firm, almost desperate, as if Siddharth wanted to convey everything words couldn’t. Ishan stood still, too perplexed to return it, too startled to pull away. Around them, the airport noise faded into a distant hum, replaced by the awkward awareness of curious eyes. Passersby slowed down, their gazes flicking toward the unusual sight. The weight of their stares made Ishan’s skin prickle with discomfort.
When he finally moved, it was hesitant, a slow, almost mechanical pat on Siddharth’s shoulder.
Siddharth pulled back, eyes darting around to meet the judgmental looks of strangers. Clearing his throat, he scratched the back of his neck and offered a sheepish grin.
“Sorry,” he muttered under his breath, embarrassment coating his voice.
Ishan simply shrugged, his tone calm yet sincere. “Thank you… for everything.”
