Sorry for leaving you guys reading this on a cliffhanger last chapter then not updating! My bad!
The cavern was filled with softly glowing crystals, colored light refracting across the space.
Fae had disappeared when she had first stepped into the cave, and now reappeared out of the dark corners. "Follow me," she said quietly. "There's more."
Seth snapped out of his trance and followed Far's receding footsteps into one of the mysterious gloomy corners.
Turns out, it was a small tunnel leading through many twists and turns, finally opening up inti a larger space, even bigger than the first cave.
If Seth had any thoughts on the first cavern being dark, they were diminished now, this cave a pitch black void the snuffed out all light. Even Fae's huge feathery wings that usually radiated a bit of light were barely visible in the darkness.
Seth felt Fae's hand brush against his, and a moment later he felt cold stone under his fingertips.
Seth's throat felt dry. He had never seen this kind of darkness before, for ge always had a knack for seeing in the dark, yet he couldn't see his hand in front of his face.
It was as if Fae could sense his fear. Seth felt her warm hand rest on his shoulder, and his breathing steadied. The hand was removed and for a second there was silence, no slight shuffles of the feet or loud breathing.
Fae could tell Seth was holding his breath. She placed her hand on the wall, feeling for the slight indent in the walls. Once she found it, she inserted a piece of stone she slid out from her pocket. As it settled, it started glowing softly, shedding light that sliced through the darkness.
She looked over at Seth, his eyes squeezed shut. "You can open them," she called out.
Seth jumped slightly at the sound, and blinked his eyes open, turning to face Fae. His hand came up to shield his eyes from the sudden bright light that we now emitting from the stone in the wall.
"What is it?" he inquired, starting towards her.
A small smile appeared on Fae's face. "Just wait."
The light shut off, and they were cast into darkness once again. Fae pressed the palm of her hand against the stone walls, and one after another, small, glowing blue lights like stars appeared around the cavern.
"Woah," Seth breathed.
The whole cave was covered in blue light. Fae was looking around, her face shining under the colored light. It's even more breathtaking than the first time, she thought.
Fae sneaked a glance at Seth, finding him gazing around in wonder.
"How?" he asked, tearing his gaze away from the astonishing sight and raising his eyebrows at Fae.
"It can only be activated by a World Creator or a child of one. Its how we descended from them we are able to arouse it." She lifted her wings, and gestured to Seth's own. "This is an ancient cave, created by the World Creators themselves. It's designed to be used to seek answers or give hiding."
