Chapter Six - The Wendigo.

2:00 am.

Cassidy creeks an old looking door open entering the abandoned sanatorium. The eerie feeling gets to her nerves making her anxious as the silence in there is almost deadly. "Martin? Micah? Amber?" She calls out as there is no voice back, "what the fuck is this place.." She says to herself as she starts to walk down a dark hallway with not a noise to be heard. She keeps walking down being on edge as in the distance a screech is heard as she jerks her head to look back quickly as her hair flows in the cold air. "Get it together Cass find the three of them and get the fuck out of these mountains away from these people." Cassidy says to herself as she looks over and finds a rusty machete on the ground which she then picks up. "Now why the fuck is this in an abandoned mental hospital.." She says very freaked out before she takes it with her for protection. She walks into this room where it seems to be a morgue looking place as she then sees a hand waving to her with a note attached to this mechanical device. "What the fuck?" She says reaching her hand out to the note but then gets her fingers stuck in a bear trap, it was a trap all along. A scream rips out of Cassidy's throat as she feels the sharp pain of the beartrap on her fingers. "FUCK ME" She screams as she looks at her machete she has, "fuck why does this happen to me I DON'T LIKE ANY OF THESE PEOPLE I'M WITH." She yells as she begins to slice off her almost decapitated fingers which causes her to grunt loudly in pain. She uses her other hand to tear off a piece of her shirt and wrap it around her decapitated fingers to stop the bleeding. While in pain, she walks more into the room and notices a desk with a book opened to a certain page. She sits down at the desk and looks through the page titled, "The Wendigo." Cassidy gasps at the sight of the page which explains the curse of the mountains, how the last recorded sighting of The Wendigo was the year prior. Cassidy freezes as her first thought escapes her mouth, "Lizzie." Cassidy says putting puzzle pieces together as she continues reading.

The Makkapithew was what started it all, if bitten by this monstrous figure you will turn and your injuries will immediately heal making you immortal unless killed with fire."

Cassidy gasps at the sight of what she's reading as she spots something else on the page.

The mines is their home, located underneath the Radio Tower and many other places throughout the mountain.

Cassidy reads the radio tower part and immediately thinks of two people. She stands up, "Gracie, Barry..no no no." She says as she rushes out of the sanatorium towards the entrance of the sanatorium but hears some screeching behind her.

"Baby...baby wake up please." Amber hears a fuzzy but familiar voice as she wakes up and comes to her senses again. "What...happened?" She says as Micah runs his fingers through her hair noticing the huge bruise on her forehead. "The planks collapsed underneath us...we're in a cave of some sort pretty girl." He says as Amber sighs, "fuck...how are you feeling?" she says wrapping her cold hands around Micah's face as he flinches to her touch. "Still..sore and weak baby" he says as Amber takes her hands off, "shit I'm so sorry."  Amber says as Micah gives her a weak smile, "don't worry about it pretty lady." He says giving a slight smirk which makes Amber chuckle, "come on, let's get out of this place." She says as she helps Micah up, he starts to walk with her but very slow due to the monster dragging him earlier. Amber starts walking slower to keep up with him as they both give each other a smile. Amber then notices a path with lightbulbs hanging and points to it, "lets go over there baby." She says as she helps Micah walk over there but suddenly when they get there, they see something far in front of them moving drastically fast. Amber's eyes widen as she sees a wall they both can hide behind, "Micah come on baby now hurry." She says in a stern voice helping Micah walk over to the wall that they stand behind as the Wendigo moves around wall to wall extremely fast. Amber looks at Micah and raises her finger to her mouth, "don't make a noise follow my lead." Micah's body starts to feel so weak as he begins to fall over, "Baby..I-" he whispers as Amber catches his fall avoiding any noise between the two. Amber and Micah stare eye contact as Amber mouths the words "I got you" to him. The Wendigo finally moves past which makes both of them sigh out of relief. Micah shows clear doubts about surviving the night as Amber looks at him, "baby I'm not letting anything bad happen to you tonight okay? no matter the cost you are safe with me." She says as Micah smiles at the reassurance, they both give each other a small soft kiss before keeping the move through the mines on.

The collapsed Radio Tower is seen absolutely demolished by the fall as we see a familiar face hanging by a wire. With Barry dropping Gracie,  it gave her the time to grab onto a wire saving her from that fall. Gracie looks up absolutely terrified, "fuck you Barry!" she screams out at him even though she knows he can't hear her. "Fuck me...what the hell do I do?" She says to herself as she looks over to see a ledge that if she swings herself to, she can land on it. She begins to swing towards the ledge which she successfully does so, she groans at the impact of the fall but eventually gains the strength to get up. The look of betrayal fill her eyes knowing how much she loves Barry and he let her go just like that, "how the fuck do I get out of here?" She says to herself as she keeps walking along the trail she sees ahead of her. She looks on the ground while walking and sees a stick and a barrel that has fire in it. "The things I fucking do" She says taking her jacket off and wrapping it around the stick before sticking it in the fire for a light source. The adrenaline going through her body keeps her warm enough from the freezing cold weather as she walks through the mines. Gracie comes across a elevator that needs power, "of fucking course" she sighs to herself as she walks around to look for a powerbox. She comes across one which she pulls the lever to which lights up the area she's in. On the way back to the elevator, Gracie squeezes through a space between a stone wall and a wooden wall. She hears screeches coming from throughout the mines as she carefully squeezes through. Before she can get through, a leathery hand breaks through and tries to grab her. "SHIT!" Gracie yells before breaking into a sprint with a Wendigo chasing after her. She finds two paths and goes to the one on her right which then the Wendigo jumps in front of her and screeches. A scream rips out of her as she turns around and runs until she sees the elevator in front of her, she runs to it and immediately pulls the lever as the elevator starts lifting her up. Once it's fully up she feels movement around the elevator which makes her freeze in fear, the Wendigo is seen through the cracks looking at her as it finally leaves her alone. She takes the chance and makes a run for it as louder screeching is heard. She looks behind her and sees the Wendigo still chasing after her after sensing her movement. Gracie runs through a path using her torch as a guide before she makes it to this open area which is just rocks leading up to outside the mines, she turns around realizing she's cornered as she sees the Wendigo getting closer and closer. The Wendigo attempts to lunge at Gracie which she swiftly dodges before breaking off into a sprint again. She makes it to a wooden area with multiple cans of gasoline as she knocks them down before throwing her torch in it causing a fire to slow down the Wendigo. She keeps running as the Wendigo is slowed down trying to avoid the fire, Gracie then sees a chain which she pulls releasing a pile of rocks on top of the Wendigo. Gracie then runs to a door which she gets through and locks it behind her, she lets out a sigh of relief as she then feels the door being broken down behind her as she feels a sharp scratch on her shoulder which sends a painful groan out of her before she then pulls out her flare gun Barry gave her and aims it at the Wendigo. She pulls the trigger which makes the Wendigo get sent flying back as she turns to see a Conveyor in front of her. She runs to it and presses the button for it to start before crawling onto the Conveyor. It lifts her up quickly as she then sees it leads to a meat grinder below. She reacts in time to jump over it and sees a zipline ahead of her, screeching is still heard which tells her there's not much time left. She risks it all by running to the zipline and jumping on it right as the Wendigo attempts to grab her. She ziplines down and falls into the snow, she gets up and looks up to where she was just getting chased as she sees the Wendigo staring back at her. She turns around to see the lodge ahead of her and heads to it.
