Chapter: 8 Captured

Previously, on The Violet Demon

The council has decided to close the pro bending arena to ovoid any casualties after Amons threat to attack it. But our hero, along with team avatar and Lin Beifong were able to sway their decision. Despite the additional security and Sojo's presence, Amon and his chi blockers successfully attacked the stadium. After which, our hero suspected Asami's father, Hiroshi Sato, of being an Equalist conspirator. After Lin and her police force, along with the avatar, Tenzin, and Sojo, located an underground secret factory of his, Hiroshi proved Sojo correct by attacking them and attempting to bring them to Amon. He was unsuccessful in doing so, only managing to capture Lin's officers before Asami stopped her father and escaped with the others. Shortly after, they all moved into the air temple with Tenzin and Korra. Our team avatar then took it upon themselves to patrol the streets and put a stop to the Equalists. After a few successful runs under their belt, Tarrlok and his task force arrested Mako, Bolin, and Asami for getting in his way. Our hero then finally decides to tell Korra his story. The good... and the bad. With the both of them feeling open and determined, they decide to barge into Tarrlok's office and get their friends back.

Captured

After Sojo and Korra kicked the door into Tarrlok's office, the councilman dismissed his assistant to face them both alone.
"You obviously have something on your mind. Spit it out." Tarrlok said as he sat at his desk without care.
"Watch your tone, Tarrlok. I'm on a short fuse right now. Hear Korra out, and I just may control myself." Sojo growled as he flexed his chi, causing the room to shake a bit as he emitted a slight purple aura. Tarrlok gulped and tried to hide his nervousness. But he quickly composed himself and looked to Korra.
"Don't you see? You're doing exactly what Amon says is wrong with benders. You're using your power to oppress and intimidate people." Korra explained.
"And you don't?" Tarrlok asked.
"Of... of course not." Korra replied with a baffled expression.
"What kind of stupid question is that? Korra has used her power to help those around her. More than you and your useless task force have." Sojo spat.
"Oh I beg to differ. Isn't that why you came here, both of you? To intimidate me into releasing your friends? See, that's the one thing I actually admire about you two. Especially you, Sojo." Tarrlok said with a smirk, Sojo furrowing his brows in response.
"You are by far one of the most intimidating individuals I have met in my entire life. And trust me... I've met a lot of people. Bad people. I bet you hardly have to lift a finger to get what you want." Tarrlok explained.
"And yet, you still sit there with that smug expression I hate so much. Why?" Sojo asked.
"Because it is a quality we both share. Our willingness to go to extremes to get the very thing we want." Tarlokk replied.
"Excuse me?" Sojo said.
"We are nothing like you." Korra added.
"Look, I'll make you a deal. You both fall in line and do what I say. And I'll release your friends." Tarrlok said.
"That's why you arrested them? To get to me? To us?" Korra asked with shock.
"I need your answer." Tarrlok said.
"You wanna know our answer?" Sojo asked as he unsheathed his sword and got into a stance.
"It's a big fat no, you spineless snake." Sojo said.
"You might be able to manipulate Chief Saikhan into following you, but it won't work on us." Korra said. Tarrlok then laughed as he stood up and faced the fountain behind him with his arms relaxed behind his back.
"I was going to make this easier for you. But your boyfriend there just had to draw that stupid blade he loves so much. You will regret that decision, Avatar." Tarrlok said.
"You need to be stopped. You're just as bad as Amon." Korra said. Tarrlok widened his eyes in response.
"I've tried to work with you, Korra. And I've been very lenient with you, Violet Demon. But you've both made it impossible." Tarrlok said before quickly bending a sharp wave of water at Korra. But Sojo appeared in front of her in a flash as he sliced clean through the wave, dispersing it to the sides.
"Thanks for attacking first, dumb ass. Now I can take you down without any restrictions." Sojo said before running at Tarrlok and swinging his sword at him. Tarrlok dodged slash after slash before Sojo faked him out and kicked him in the face, sending him flying onto his back. Sojo prepared a downward firebending kick, but Tarrlok blocked his kick with a shield of water. He then grabbed Sojo's foot and sent him spiraling away with a tendril of water. Korra stopped him by cutting off his tendril and shooting a powerful jet stream of water at Tarrlok. He just stopped it with his hand and put up a water barrier as Sojo fired a continuous wave of purple fire at him. Sojo eventually broke through his barrier as Tarrlok crashed into the fountain wall behind him. Tarrlok then fired a bunch of icicles at them with Sojo deflecting each one with his blade. Korra wasn't as successful as she was cut a few times.
"Korra!" Sojo shouted with worry as he got in front of her and continued deflected.
"Seems the avatar is holding you back, Sojo."Tarrlok mocked. Sojo then engulfed his blade and slashed a powerful wave of purple fire at Tarrlok.
"Holding me back? As if." Sojo replied.
In response, Tarrlok rode atop a wave of water towards them, avoiding Sojo's attack. Sojo flew at him and attempted to slice his head off. But Tarrlok ducked and used a jet of water to push Sojo into a wall. Korra approached and knocked him off of his wave as she then protruded a rock into his side, sending him back into the fountain. Sojo then appeared in front of him and sliced his leg.
"Ahhh!" Tarrlok shouted in pain as he pushed Sojo back with a burst of water. He then lunged forward and attempted to encase Sojo in a sphere of water. But Sojo disappeared and reappeared behind Tarrlok. He turned back, only to see no one.
"What're you looking at?" Sojo asked as he speed blitzed Tarrlok and sent him sliding back with a big fireball. Tarrlok attempted another strike with a water whip, but Sojo disappeared again, reappearing beside Tarrlok and slicing his shoulder. Tarrlok winced in pain before turning, only to see that Sojo was no longer there, but on his other side.
"What's the matter Tarrlok? Getting frustrated?" Sojo mocked.
"Shut up!" Tarrlok shouted as he tried shooting a large shard of ice at him, only for Sojo to disappear once again.
"How is he doing that?" Tarrlok thought as Sojo appeared in front of him. Tarrlok took a swing at him, only for Sojo to disappear and reappear behind him and slash his back.
"Aahhhhh!" Tarrlok whaled in pain as he fell to one knee.
"What trickery is this?! How are you disappearing?" Tarrlok asked.
"I'm not. I'm just moving too fast for you to perceive. Using an old technique of the Hayashi lineage." Sojo replied.
"A technique?" Tarrlok questioned.
"That's right. You see, the long thirteen hundred year Hayashi household lineage possesses unique traits. One of those being our powerful chi, and the amount of it that we posses." Sojo explained as he stepped in front of Tarrlok.
"My family alone has been able to utilize our chi in ways no one else in the world can. Not even the Avatar has ever had the capability to wielding chi as we do. No offense, Korra." Sojo said while looking to Korra with a smile and rubbing the back of his head.
"Because of our powerful chi in large quantities, the members of the Hayashi household have been able to create many powerful abilities and techniques with it throughout the years. One of them being this." Sojo said before disappearing and reappearing next to Korra.
"By utilizing the chi within me, I'm able to significantly increase my movement speed. So much to the point that I either appear as nothing more than a blur." Sojo said before disappearing and reappearing behind Tarrlok.
"Or I disappear from sight all together." Sojo added. Tarrlok gasped and backed away from Sojo with a startle.
"T-that's impossible! No one is able to move that fast." Tarrlok said in disbelief.
"Really? I've just shown you the technique firsthand. It's called..." Sojo said as he appeared right in Tarrlok's face, faster than the blink of an eye.
