Chapter: 9 I am Sojo Hayashi

Previously, on The Violet Demon.

After being backed into a corner by our hero and the Avatar, Tarrlok revealed himself to be a bloodbender as he used this vile form of waterbending to subdue and capture them. He then drove them to a secure location where he trapped them. The Avatar then reached out to Aang via meditation to try and get some help. Sojo too decided to meditate, only for his consciousness to be transported to a dark and twisted place. There he encountered a sinister entity that wanted Sojo to free him from his shackles. Before he was able to, something or someone pulled Sojo from that horrid place and retuned his consciousness to his body. Tarrlok's secret was then leaked by his assistant to the council. He then rendered the council unconscious and ran for it, returning to the place he was keeping Sojo and Korra. Amon then surprised Tarrlok as they both engaged. Sojo and Korra managed to escape as they both eventually found their way back to the city after a scuffle with Amons Lieutenant, now reformed. Some time later, Amon launched an all out invasion on the city as our team avatar leaped into action to put a stop to it.

I am Sojo Hyashi

As Lin and the white lotus guards prepare to defend the temple, another Equalist air ship arrived and deployed more Silent Hand, along with some normal chi blockers. They land and engage the guards, only for the Silent Hand assassins to make short work of them. A group of them break off to engage with Lin who fended them off with high difficulty. Meanwhile, Pema was in the temple being tended to by a few air acolytes as she was going into labor.
Lin was then taken down by a Silent Hand assassin. Before they could finish her off, Jinora flew down to her aide on a glider.
"Stay away from my dad's ex-girlfriend." She said as she landed and blew them away with a powerful gust of wind.
"Jinora, you shouldn't be out here." Lin said. Just then, Ikki began blasting away Silent Hand and chi blockers alike as she bumped into them on an air scooter.
"Girls, you need to go back inside this instant." Lin ordered.
"Taste my fury!" Meelo shouted as he started farting on the chi blockers, hitting them with powerful toots and air bending moves left and right.
"Meelo, be careful." Lin said.
Meelo then blasted them all away with a powerful airbending blast as he roared comically.
"Never mind." Lin said with a dumbfounded expression. Just then, they were all approached by more Silent Hand as some previous incapacitated assassins rose to their feet.
"Stay behind me, kids." Lin said before she heard a loud boom in the sky. She looked up to see a blazing ball of purple fire heading towards the airships.
"Sojo." Lin said with a smile.
"HaaaaAAAHHHH!!" Sojo roared as he struck the tail end of one of the airships with his flame engulfed blade, slicing clean through it. He then flew to the other and swung an enormous wave of purple fire at it as it collided with the airship and sent it plummeting to the ground along with the other. Sojo hovered there in the air as he looked down to Lin, noticing the airships were falling towards the temple.
"Lin! Redirect them into the water!" Sojo shouted down to her. Lin nodded and jumped forward before performing a powerful motion as she then redirected the plummeting airships into the water just beside the temple. Sojo flew down and landed next to her as he held his blade beside him.
"No escaping now. You're toast." Sojo said as he lunged forward and swung his sword, sending a fast and powerful streak of purple fire at the remaining Silent Hand and chi blockers, knocking them all back and rendering them unconscious. He then sheathed his blade and let out a breath.
"Are you all okay?" Sojo asked them as Nari flew down onto his shoulder.
"Yeah! We kicked their butts!" Meelo shouted excitedly. Sojo smiled back before turning to Lin.
"Where's Pema?" He asked.
"Inside. She's currently in labor, Sojo." Lin explained, socking him. Just then, Tenzin landed with Korra and the others on Oogi.
"Dad." Jinora called to him as they all ran up.
"Oh, thank goodness you're all right." Tenzin said as he landed and hugged his kids.
"We fought the bad guys." Meelo said.
"You let them fight? Do you realize what could've happened." Tenzin asked Lin with disappointment.
"I would've been toast if it weren't for your kids. You should be proud. You taught them well." Lin explained. Tenzin then looked on to his kids with a proud smile.
"Go on. Be with your wife." Lin said as Tenzin and his kids passed by.
"We would've been in trouble if not for Sojo as well." Lin added. Tenzin stopped and turned to Sojo.
"Sojo... I can't begin to explain how grateful I am. The very moment we saw the Equalists invading the island, you took initiative and jumped right into action to protect my family. Thank you." Tenzin said.
"Don't mention it. You all mean a great deal to me." Sojo replied.
"As you do to us. Come on, let's head inside." Tenzin said as the white lotus guards began apprehending the Silent hand, along with the chi blockers. Inside the temple, they heard a baby crying.
"Pema!" Tenzin called to her as he entered their room to see her holding a baby boy.
"Tenzin." Pema cooed as he went to her side.
"I'm here, Pema." Tenzin said as he comforted her.
"Our new son." Pema said as she handed the baby to Tenzin. He carefully held the infant as he looked up to Tenzin and smiled.
"Hello." He greeted his new baby boy with a warm smile. The other kids then poked their heads into the room as Tenzin noticed them.
"Come. Meet your new brother." Tenzin called them in.
"A brother? Well, it's about time." Meelo said as they all went over to greet their newborn brother.
"Welcome. I'm Ikki, and this is Jinora and Meelo. We have a super great family, and we're so happy that you're a part of it." Ikki said to the infant with a happy smile.
"What are you gonna name him? Can I pick?" Jinora asked.
"We already chose a name." Pema replied.
"Rohan." Tenzin said. The family of now six sat in the bed as Sojo, Korra, and Lin watched on with smiles, feeling happy for them. Korra then grabbed Sojo's hand as he looked down to her. She looked into his eyes and smiled softly at him with a blush. Sojo did the same and held her hand tighter. Korra then let go and stepped up.
"I'm so sorry to interrupt, but... more airships are incoming." Korra said.
"Everything's not gonna be fine. Is it, daddy?" Ikki asked. Tenzin then looked to his family with worry. Sojo looked to Rohan in Tenzin's arms. He was suddenly overcome by a newfound determination. Determination, to protect.
"Yes... it will." Sojo said, gaining everyone's attention.
"Nothing will happen to any of you. We will put an end to this. Even if it means giving my life in order to do so." He added with a serious expression. They all looked at Sojo with shock, but also with thankfulness, seeing how Sojo was willing to put it all in the line for them.
"It won't come to that, Sojo. No one will be dying. As long as we all have each others back." Tenzin replied with a smile.
