"Please don't mind him," Inui stares after Kokonoi, "he's just... dramatic."

"Clearly." you force a smile, "Could you please tell him to text me the amount? I'll pay it in a day or two. There's no point stalling any further, he is spot on with the guess or whatever."

"You don't have to-" Inui begins but you cut him off with a "please, I signed up for this".

"You... didn't tell your leader it's me, did you?" you voice your major concern and Inui shakes his head in denial saying "of course not" and "that's not at all safe for you".

Shiori just looks between the both of you- not a word either of you is saying fits right with her limited knowledge about whatever is going on. She doesn't even understand the look of pure relief on your face once Inui guarantees.

All she can tell is that you're already neck deep in some sort of mess, and this concern Inui and Kokonoi. She assumes the reason you dislike Kokonoi is because he probably dragged you into it, though that's not the case in actuality.

"I'll take my leave then." Inui stands up, and after a pause, bows the tiniest bit as a greeting before walking out of the room.

"So... " Shiori stares after him, "What was all of that about?"

"Nothing you should concern yourself with." you tell her, eyes focused at the door Inui has just walked out of, "And listen, you ever see that monster Taiju-guy again, or even people wearing those white uniforms, get out of there."

"What did you do, (Name)-chan?" she turns towards you with a worried expression.

"I did nothing." you tell her, "That's the worst part, I'm just unlucky as hell. And come on, weren't you in the middle of begging for forgiveness before all this? Who even allowed you to randomly draw associations between me and some guy?"

"I'm sorry." she flinches, "I'll be careful next time for sure. Though yeah, the reaction on the guy's face was kinda worth watching."

You snort, "That's true. That's the only one reason I'm not throwing you out. But considering how I'll have to face him again after this sometime because the world just has unleashed bad luck on my ass, I should be thinking of a way to not piss him more."

"He looked like he'd kill you." Shiori nods.

"He gladly would." you nod back.

"So what happened?"

"Nothing." you look away.

A silence falls between the both of you. Shiori just stares at you and you stare at the ground to avoid her gaze. She's consistent with her actions, however, and manages to psychological pressure you to confess with the glare.

"So you're not telling anyone, okay?" you turn to her.

"You saved my life from going to shit because of those bullies, dude. You're a hero to me, I'm finally living thanks to you. Of course I wouldn't tell anyone, I'll always be here to help you through whatever."

Your eyes widen the slightest- you're touched by her words.

"Okay, once upon a time, I kinda lost my senses in... depression? -and ended up beating up a group of weak boys at the shrine of another gang. Word got out, they came to me last time to investigate, Bitchonoi realizes it's me, we have a bet."

"Ah." she is able to see most of the idea now.

"And the bet was to be discussed today. That leader guy wants to hire the "girl who beat up a delinquent gang by herself" and well... the other two saved my ass." you make a face at her, "Doesn't sound very relieving though. If anything, Bitchonoi saving me hurt my pride."
