"J, stop!" I heard Ellie giggle from JJ's room while I was putting on some makeup. My door was wide open, leaving me no choice but to overhear the playful exchange between the two.Over the past few weeks, we relocated to Rome, settling into a stunning, spacious house. While Venice had its charm, it was too dull for us, especially considering we had more than enough money to afford moving to another city.
JJ insisted on bringing Ellie along, as she already had a small apartment in Rome. None of us objected; we all knew she'd likely end up staying with us the entire time but that would be great, because JJ had a thing for her and Ellie was genuinely nice.
The main reason I was glad to have her around was that she made JJ forget me in any romantic way..I think. It's not that I regretted sleeping with him or anything that happened between us, but I still didn't feel anything for him, so this arrangement was better for everyone.
As I finished applying my makeup, I could hear more laughter and playful voices drifting from JJ's room. I sighed, hoping tonight's events would be a good distraction.
All my friends had decided to stay in, but I needed a break from literally everything.I gave myself one last glance in the mirror, satisfied with the look, and headed towards JJ's room to grab the bracelet I had lent Ellie. I knocked lightly before pushing the door open. JJ was lounging on the bed, and Ellie was perched on the edge, her laughter dying down as she saw me.
"Hey, Ellie, can I get my bracelet back? The silver, Cartier one?" I asked, smiling to show I was just there for the bracelet.
Ellie jumped up. "Of course! I was just about to give it back to you." She rummaged through her bag and handed it to me with a grin.
"You look beautiful, by the way. Got any special plans?"
"Just going to the club," I replied, slipping the bracelet on. "Thanks."As I turned to leave, JJ's eyes followed me, and I caught him discreetly licking his lips.
TypicalI brushed it off with a nonchalant smile. "See you guys later," I said, waving as I walked out.
Two wonderful girls I had met in Rom a few days ago, Lucia and Sofia, were picking me up. They were fun, vibrant, and always knew how to have a good time so I knew the night would end up being great. I headed downstairs just as their car pulled up. Nobody was sitting in the living room, probably because they were all distributed in their rooms so i just grabbed my purse and left.
Lucia rolled down the window, her dark curls bouncing as she waved enthusiastically. "Hey, gorgeous!
Ready to have a good time?"
I grinned, hopping into the back seat. "Absolutely. Let's get out of here."We drove away, the music blaring and the city lights whizzing by.
The club was packed, but obviously, our VIP status granted us access to the best section. The bouncer nodded us through with a knowing smile, and we were immediately enveloped by the pulse of the music, the flashing lights, and the energy of the crowd.
Lucia led the way, her confidence turning heads as we made our way to our reserved table. Sofia and I followed, already laughing and soaking in the atmosphere. Once seated, we ordered a round of drinks, settling into the plush seats
As the night progressed, we sipped on our girly cocktails and gossiped about everything and everyone.Sofia leaned in, her eyes sparkling with mischief."Do you know that bitch we met last week?" she pulled out her phone, showing us the instagram page of the girl."She is copying my every step, it's crazy how jealous she is."
I laughed, already intrigued. "Oh really? Why's that?"
Sofia rolled her eyes dramatically.
"She thinks I stole her spotlight because my pictures got way more likes. As if it's my fault I look this good," she said with a playful toss of her hair. We all burst into laughter, clinking our glasses together.Just then, a group of guys and girls that Sofia had invited joined us. The energy around our table intensified as introductions were made and drinks were poured. Among the people was a girl named Amara, who seemed particularly excited about someone she was waiting for.
"I can't wait for my boyfriend to get here," Amara said, checking her phone for the hundredth time.
"You guys are going to love him."
Sofia raised an eyebrow.
"Oh, what's his name?"Amara glanced up, a bit hesitant, then smiled. "His name's Rafe.
Rafe Cameron."My heart skipped a beat at the name. Rafe.
