"Mom, this is Drake. Drake this is Mom."
"Call me Kristen."
He stood up and shook her hand kindly, he was nervous and sweaty so he wiped his hand down the leg of his pants before doing so. He put a hand out to offer her the seat, she set a briefcase down on the table before sitting. Aubrey decided to meet up with Kristen for the first time at Shacks because not only was it a place that Sierra was well familiar with but he had to admit, for a bar it was a nice place, and Aubrey was able to rent out one of the back rooms.
"Okay, so i heard briefly of whats been going on but. I will definitely need to know the whole story if we want to win this. I called the guys lawyers and they barely know what there talking about, im surprised they even passed the laws test. This should be a piece of cake, but may i say that a lot of lawyers throw curve balls. So i need to know everything and you cannot, cannot, lie about anything because if there's something i don't know that they know, they will use that to the fullest."
Aubrey nodded his head every few seconds to show understanding of the words coming out of her mouth. The kids were back at the YOLO estate with the crew having the time of there lives and Aubrey knew that, but he was worried about them. What if George came and got them? not that he knew where they lived. What if the police came and took them though? Stupid thoughts like that ran through his mind like a marathon and it was killing him.
"well, where to begin?"
"lets start with simple things. Why did you go over there? To the foster home, the day of the attack."
he cringed a little at the sound of the word attack. It wasn't an attack, he was just protecting the kids that he clearly loved, even though they weren't being beat right there it was still just his way of defending them.
"Well, i needed to get some things off-"
"that's where im gonna stop you. Remember what i said? i need to know everything. the things on your mind, what were they?"
"They were about sunny."
"what about Sunny?"
He sighed, he hated talking about it but he knew he would have to and it sucked because the women sitting here talking to him was her best friends mother, which meant she was just as close to sunny as sierra was.
"I told sunny that maybe it was for the better that she had a miscarriage, she told the doctor no visitation rights from me and im worried because shes making herself sick by crying so much and i know that she really wants these kids."
"so by her wanting the kids you decided to go over there?"
he mentally sighed out in relief that she didn't stick to the miscarriage thing, everyone on the planet knew he fucked up and no matter how many times someone brought up the situation that wasn't going to change the fact that he said what he shouldn't have said.
"Well, to be honest i want them too. There great kids and they deserve a great home, and the only reason i told sunny what i told her is because i wasn't ready for a baby."
"but your ready for three?"
"no, im not. But that doesn't even matter because i already messed up and im not gonna mess up again by sitting back and watching these kids get beat. I refuse to let it happen and as much as i hate to say it...im really attached to them."
She smiled as she scribbled things down on her notepad, Aubrey couldn't help but smile to himself at the thought of them winning the trial because if they won that meant the kids were legally theirs. That meant they had a family and everything would be okay.
"Now, can you go through what happened? explain your side of the story."
"I drove over there, maybe around noonish. Tina opened the door for me but said the boys were napping so i couldn't see them, but i could see Izzy. The house felt weird, like something really bad was going to happen, or like something bad had just happened, i don't know i just had a feeling. When i went into her room she seemed fine but when i got closer to her i realized she was crying and there was a massive bruise on her face. I rubbed her cheek with my thumb and pulled her in for a hug, she told me that they were hurting them badly and i just kind of snapped. I told her to pack all of her clothes and grab Fletcher, Her rabbit. Then i went into the boys room, they weren't sleeping though, just laying in bed. Once they saw me they got kind of scared because i looked mad, but i told them it was okay and they needed to pack there bags. I stormed from there room and out into the living room, i shoved him at first and asked him what the hell his problem was. Tina started screaming because after that i pretty much started to beat his face in, punching his mouth and nose, his eyes too. Then i shoved Tina too, i wouldn't hit her though cause shes a women but she deserved every ounce of that shove. Then i yelled for the kids to hurry up and they did, then we left. Got some ice cream and went back home."
She wrote down everything in the notebook, scribbling down the same words that came from Aubrey's mouth. She tucked a stray curl behind her ear and took in a breath before she stopped writing
"The girl, Izzy, is she alright? The bruise on her face wasn't to extensive, no broken bones or anything?"
"Not from what i could tell, but im sure they have had broken bones before. I wouldn't know how to get a hold of medical records, but if they have it would be great evidence."
"that's what im thinking."
She mumbled somethings that Aubrey couldn't really make out as he glance over at Sierra who text, who he was guessing was sunny.
"Sierra, i need you to place in a call for Addison and Derrick, tell them i don't care what there schedule is they need to fly out here ASAP, im gonna go schedule a court order and were going to need a subpoena, god only knows what else goes on in that house."
Aubrey stood up as she stood up and began to place the things back in her brief case
"wait, Addison and Derrick. Who are they?"
She looked up at Aubrey then down at her brief case as she closed it and twisted the lock combination
"Addison and Derrick are the parents of your fiance, sunny."
