part two to 'the only one' (matheo riddle)
enjoy<3—
It had been around a month since the break-up— and a rough one at that. The school had begun to settle down again, finding different scandals and gossip to bestow upon the eager students, slowly letting the drama around my love life settle, but that did not, by all means, mean that I was spared from the pitying looks and fake coos of comfort. No, those were very real. Just like the more-than-subtle flirts towards me from none other than the desirable Theodore Nott. Just as the dust concerning me and Matheo had started to settle, rumours in regard of me and his best friend started to circle, proving to be true at the very last Slytherin party before graduation.
The bass of the music vibrated through the dungeons, eerie green lights flickering through the room as countless bodies rubbed against each other on the dance floor. The common room reeked of sweat, musk and alcohol and I basked in the space Theo and I had secured on the last free couch, his piercing gaze daring anyone to even approach the green velvet couch. Soft murmurs against the shell of my ear, assuring me to ignore the people around us, had me leaning back into his chest. The only reason we were here was to uphold our public image and, admittedly, to promote the whispered rumours about us. And it was working. A soft, relaxed smile played around my lips as he murmured about how Matheo was glaring at us against the column of my neck. I didn't allow my eyes to flick around the room immediately, instead basking in the feel of his hands gripping my waist and his soft lips trailing up to my jaw. I didn't know what Theo and I were, it wasn't just a fling, but it wasn't a full relationship. It wasn't friends with benefits, since we'd never really been in the 'friends' stage. It was more like a fling of convenience, a half relationship without all the emotional attachment. I let my eyes wander a little further, humming to what Theo was saying as I very slowly slid my eyes to Matheo.
His fists were clenched tightly on his thigh, a single dark curl falling over his eye as his eyes bore into the place where Theo's hand gripped the back of my neck. I smirked at his, averting my eyes as Theo pulled my flush against his and connected our lips in a hungry, nearly predatory kiss. Tangling my fingers in his hair and pressing myself tighter against him I didn't need to look to where Matheo was sitting to know that he was fuming. I laughed softly against his lips as Theo's hand snaked along my back, drawing patterns up and down while the other hand still held me to him by my neck. I inhaled sharply as we pulled away, but before I could catch my breath, we were pulled apart.
Stumbling backwards I saw Matheo fling himself at Theo, fists flying in a matter of seconds. I didn't need to look up to see that all heads were turned in our direction, watching the fight with rapped focus. "Stop! Both of you stop, Matheo," I yelled, attempting to grab his arm, "get off him, you're being ridiculous!"
A few more attempts to pull them off each other and I was stumbling backwards again. The speed in which they were rolling and punching too much of a risk. I looked around, seeing Blaise and Draco heading through the crowd, pulling the two off each other, in the direction of the dorms. The room fell silent and I flushed in embarrassment, not meeting anyone's gaze, quickly following the four boys in their stead. The door slammed shut behind me as I stormed through the dorm, practically running towards the bathroom. "Out." Was all I said as I glared at Blaise. He was smart enough to leave without a protest as I focused my death stare on the bruised brunette leaning against the counter. Looked like Theo got a few good hits judging by the speed in which his left eye was turning blue. "You complete arse, Matheo Riddle!" I fumed, taking a few long strides towards him and slapping him squarely across the face. "That's for Theo." Another slap. "And that's for fucking cheating on me with the girl I wasn't supposed to worry about and not having the guts to tell me to my face."
I turned and left, leaving him stunned and even more bruised in his dorm room bathroom.I tentatively opened the door to Theo's dorm, navigating through piles of laundry and school books to his bathroom. The door was ajar, giving me a glimpse of him talking with Draco. I pushed the door open, smiling shyly at him, he nodded at me and wished Theo better before leaving. "I'm so sorry," I gushed as soon as we were alone, rushing towards him, taking his face in my hands and inspecting the purple and blue hues starting to form, "I should have done something, I didn't know he was coming, I shouldn't have looked at him like that— oh, this is all my fault—,"
"Calm down, mia cara, I'm fine, I've had worse than this." My heart skipped a beat at the nickname and I sighed, running my fingers over the bridge of his nose, over his pump lips and down to his jaw. "I just— Maybe if we hadn't gone— I mean,"
"Stop overthinking it, it was going to happen anyway and at least I got a few hits it." He smirked, pulling me closer to him so that our lips brushed, "Besides, I still got you, didn't I?"—
