The City Is Better With You (Ted Nivison x Reader)

Chapter Two

I put down my phone back into my pocket, staring out the window, taking in the city. Thanking the driver, I exited the car running to see Alli. I see her sitting on a bench outside her apartments. Running up to her, I grabbed her, squeezing so tightly. She tensed for a moment until she saw it was me.

"Y/n! You can't jump up like that, I didn't know who you were!" She scolded.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Sorry I'm late." I let go sitting next to her. "I had run into an issue when leaving."

"What issue? Are you okay? What happened?" She started asking 100 questions.

"I'm fine!" I put my hand on her shoulder to calm her down. "I ran into someone on the street, knocking him down and spilling his coffee... he was really nice about it, don't worry."

"You're lucky. These people are mean!" She laughed.

"I know, now where are we eating? I'm starving!" I stood up, looking around.

"Come on, this way." Alli grabbed my arm, dragging me down a few blocks to a sweet little Cafe. Walking into the cafe we ordered right away. Alli got a tea, and I got a Carmal iced coffee and blueberry muffin. We sat down at a little table and talked.

"I've missed you so much!" I started the conversation.

"Me too, tell me how's home." She smiled. I knew she only wanted any drama that happened, not boring crap. I told her all about the last 3 years before I got distracted. "Y/n? Attention to Y/n!" She waved her hands in my face.

"Hmm, yeah! I'm good. Someone walked in that I recognize." I say, still looking at the man.

"Ooooooh? Is it a coffee man?" She asks, looking over as well. "He's cute!"

"Alli!" I scolded."And no, it's not. he's staying at the same hotel as me. I rode the elevator with him this morning." I say as he looked over. He smiled and waved again. I return the gesture again. I finally look back at Alli.

"Oooo, First day in New York, and you're full of surprises!" I roll my eyes at her comment. We sip our drinks and laugh more. I get distracted later when another man walks in. This time, it really was Jshlatt. I choke on my coffee and look at Alli. "OMG! Are you okay!?" She helped by grabbing towels.

"Yeah, just wrong tube." I say, catching my breath. I keep glancing over at Jshlatt, who was now walking to the table with Elevator Boy. Alli must have noticed me switching my focus.

"Hey, what do you keep looking at?" She asked, also turning her head. She turned back with a large smirk. "You keep looking at Mr Elevator, don't you?"

"No, not Mr Elevator. The other guy." I start. "That's coffee boy." I go to grab my phone and pull up the messages with Jshlatt.

"That's coffee, boy! And the tea thickens!" She laughs doing a double take of the two guys. I type out a message

Y/n- You must have really enjoyed our meeting if you're following me :)

I put my phone on the table and wait. Almost immediately, I see him check his phone.

Jshlatt- I hate to burst that bubble, but if someone's following you, it isn't me... I'm out getting food

Y/n- Really? Hmmm, maybe look around

I see his head go up and look around the cafe. It only took 2 scans of the place for him to find me.

Jshlatt- Well, well, well, what do we have here

Y/n- A girl who wants her coffee

Jshlatt- or a girl who likes to knock others' coffee down

I laugh at his message, and before looking back up from my phone, I hear two chairs pull up to me and Alli's table. Looking up, it was Shlatt and Elevator Boy.

"Hey!" I say.

"Hey!" Jshlatt says. Looking at Slli, "You don't know me, but your friend here now owes me. Call me Jshlatt." He laughs.

"And you can call me Ted!" Elevator boy spoke up, smiling at both of us.

"I've heard of you two! Now I have names! And I'm Alli." She smirks again.

"Did you hear that, Ted! She's talked about me!" Jshlatt turns to face me. "And she says I'm stalking her!" I only roll my eyes.

"Oh, Y/n talks about everything. Don't flatter yourself yet!" Alli laughed.

"So that's your name! Hmmm, well, Y/n, I shall call you Y/n then." He gave a large smile before Ted spoke.

"Sorry you couldn't mess with him longer." He frowned for me.

"It's okay, He would have learned one day." I laughed. Looking at Ted now, I asked. "Clearly, you're not from here if you're staying at a hotel. What brings you into the city?"

"This Dork and I have some free time finally so we decided to get together for a few weeks! And you?" He looked at Alli as well.

"I live here! I'm on -" She started before I cut her off.

"I'm here for this Dork. It's been 3 years, and she finally made it onto Broadway!" I smile for Alli.

"That's amazing. When do you open? Me and Shlatt have been looking for crap to do!" Ted now talking to Alli.

"Nooo, Ted. DO NOT MAKE ME WATCH A MUSICAL!" Shlatt throws a mini tantrum over the thought.

"It's in two days! I can get you the seat next to Y/n for free!" Alli said side eying shlatts comment. "

"That's perfect!" Ted looks at his phone and nods at Jshlatt, "well we have to start going, Y/n text Shlatt the details!" The two got up and said their goodbyes. Alli gave me a look  that she was up to something.

"Soooo, which one?" She asks.

"What?" I stare at her, waiting for a response.

"Which do you fancy. I couldn't tell. But they are both your type!" She giggles at the idea.

"You're kidding! That's what's going on in your head." I roll my eyes and stand up. "Come on, we are leaving."

"Ugh, no fun! I also do have practice in 30 min, so it's probably best to leave." She started walking with me. Within the next hour, I finally make it back to the hotel room and plop onto the bed. I check my phone to see a missed call from Shlatt. I go to call him back hoping he will awnser.

Hey Shlatt! You good?

Yeah! Ted wanted to see if you two wanted to join us at a party tonight. Figured this to be the easiest way to get your attention.

Oh? Sorry, my phone was off. I'm not with Alli anymore, but if the offer stands, I would love to join. When and where?

That sounds good. Be ready in 2 hours and Ted will meet you in your lobby!

I'll be there!

I hung up the phone and immediately went to find a better outfit. I had only one outfit good for a party. I changed into a pair of ripped jeans and a cropped long sleeve shirt. Throwing on some rings and bracelets, I fixed my hair and makeup.
