The City Is Better With You (Ted Nivison x Reader)

Chapter Nineteen

We watched Coraline as each of us each made stupid jokes, The movie wasn't bad but Charlie was very into it. He pointed out little things that only someone insane enough to watch the movie enough times would see. Once the movie finished we checked the time, 10:58.

"Do we want to play something like Mario kart then get lunch?" Ted addressed the silence within the credits. I nodded my head as Schlatt set everything up.

"Winner picks lunch?" I suggested, I wanted to add stakes of some extra fun.

"Are you sure, Schlatt is gonna pick some BBQ place when he wins." Charlie glared at Schlatt as he spoke, Being given a devious smile back.

"That's assuming he will win. I know he's good and all but I'm determined today." I said, I look at each of the guys. Schlatt showed amusement, he didn't think I could beat him. Charlie and Ted both looked scared for their lives as though we would hurt whoever won.

"Good luck, You will really need it" He smirked, Laughing as he handed out the controllers. We each selected our characters and karts. "To give you a chance, Ted and Charlie will pick which cup we do" 

"Ted, Pick Y/n's favorite cup. I wanna see Schlatt loose" Charlie said from behind Schlatt, Being given many side eyes.

"Leaf, It has Yoshi and she wins that one every time." Ted said looking at me with a smile. "I believe in you" He mouthed.

"Perfect, This should be easy." Schlatt said selecting the cup. I was nervous about loosing, I had been so cocky about winning. The first race was very close but in the end Schlatt got first and I second. Ted and Charlie out of the top 3. The second race went, very close as well. This race was flipped as I got first and Schlatt second. "Luck." Schlatt said under his breath.

"Fuck you." I was getting nervous. The third race went, Even though I held first almost the whole time I got hit with a shell allowing Schlatt to pass me. "Fuck!" I shouted. Everyone looked at me laughing. The forth and final race started, At best we would tie. The race started as Schlatt cut every corner getting ahead of everyone.

"You gave a good fight Y/n!" Schlatt said while starting his third lap still in first. As he messed up I was able to get closer but not taking first. Passing the large egg I threw the red shell I had been holding on to forever, He had used his horn to stop it. Both of us seeing the finish, Next thing I knew I see a blue shell fly over my head, Hitting Schlatt. "Shit!" I passed him, His Kart not even up again. I throw my head into my hands overwhelmed by relief. "FUCK! NO" He started yelling.

"At least we tied" I said. Ted tapped my shoulder pointing to the TV.

"I got second." His smile massive, I look at Schlatt screaming into a pillow. He placed third meaning that we didn't tie, But I won.

"I won? Like for real?" I asked, Looking at Ted and Charlie. They nodded their heads as we each turn to Schlatt. "You okay big guy?" He looked up, His face with a smile.

"Yeah, Just shocked." He said trying to laugh. I didn't believe him though. "Where are we getting lunch?"

"Hmmmm, I think we should go to a cafe" I smiled, I just wanted more coffee. "As second place you can pick the cafe." I looked at Schlatt, hoping it would help.

"Okay, Lets go." He got up and started outside, No other words. The remaining three of us quickly got up and followed, rushing to grab our shoes and get out of the door. we walked down the street following the silent Schlatt.

"I think you broke him." I hear Ted as he tapped my arm.

"I didn't mean to, But maybe he will shut up about what I tell him in private." I responded, Teds face looked like he had a hundred questions but didn't ask a single one. A very awkward walk later we arrived a little cafe, not any normal cafe. A cat cafe! 

"Yo, Ted you might want this." Schlatt said throwing something at Ted, It was something for his allergies with cats. "I want you to enjoy this place slightly." We ordered food and drinks and sat down to enjoy. 

"Yo Ted, Those girls keep looking at you" Charlie said looking at a table with two girls sitting and laughing. I had recognized them from somewhere but I couldn't place a finger on it. The three guys all looked at me.

"What? Why are you guys looking at me." I said, ignoring the other table.

"Its just, This happens from time to time. I haven't been with anyone when it happens though." Ted looked nervous. I admit it was strange to see other girls checking out Ted but I wasn't worried. As I was about to respond I see Schlatt's eyes get wide, Charlies soon after.

"Shit, Dude that's-" Charlie started, I turned around to look at the group of girls again. They now had three girls. I now knew how I recognized the two before, They were on Broadway with Alli.

"Just ignore them, We dont bother them then we can assume they wont bother us." I sighed, I wasn't thrilled to see her. I went back to my lunch, joking around and trying to have fun. As we were about to finish food I hear three laughs from behind me. 

"Heyy N/n." It was Allis voice, A shiver went down my back. I turn my head throwing on a half ass smile. "Long time no see, It great to see your still hanging out with this catch." She smirked winking at Ted.

"Hey Alli. I'm really glad to have met some really good people." I look to the table and back. "Well I wish I could talk, But we were just heading out." I stood up, followed by the boys. "Perhaps next time."

"That's a shame, I really wanted to hear about your New years date." She smiled, Looking at Ted with a devious look. "next time though." She turned around and walked back to her table.

"She's such a waste of time, Lets go" I said under my breath. Schlatt and Charlie walked in front of Ted and I. 

"Hey, One second." Ted grabbed my hand as we walked outside. Suddenly in front of the windows he pulled me into a kiss. I was caught off guard, before realizing that Alli sat right on the other side of the window watching us. I wrapped my hand around him letting myself melt into the kiss.

"You guys are mental. Lover boy and girl lets go." Schlatt shouted from a little way down. As the kiss ended I felt a smile growing on my face. Grabbing Teds hand again we followed all the way back home. We spent the rest of the day watching movies and playing games. Once it got late Ted, Charlie and I all decided to head back to the hotel to call it a night. We got back and into our respected rooms, Changing into new clothes and climbing into bed to wait for Ted. 

"Hey." He said laying next to me. "You know, There's something coming up that we haven't talked about." He wrapped his arm around me, holding me close.

"What's that?" I looked up at him.

"This is only a trip, And it ends in 6 days." His face looked sad. I had forgotten that this was only a trip and would have to end. I didn't want it to end.

"I hadn't thought about that, But you and I will make it work. We will talk every day and I can visit you and vise versa." I said with a smile, that was all we could do. 

"That sounds perfect, I will miss holding you close though" He laughed.

"I will miss that too." I said, Starting to close my eyes and laying my head on his chest. "Goodnight Teddy." I muffled.

"Goodnight N/n" He planted a soft kiss on the top of my head as he drifted asleep.
