Jade laid on her bed, staring at the ceiling. Someone knocked on her. "Hey Jade. It's me Bev".
"Come in". Jade sat up on her bed. Beverly came inside her room and closed the door. "Your mom let me in". Beverly sat at the edge of her bed.
"Are you ok? I've seen the posters, and you have really been outside lately".
"I'm fine". Beverly could tell that Jade had tears in her eyes and that they were going to fall any minute now. She gave her best friend a big hug which Jade gladly returned.
"Got some money from my dad. Maybe you wanna go out and get some ice cream with me?". Jade nodded and smiled. "That sounds great!".
Jade was now in a better mood than she was earlier. Her and Beverly made jokes and laughed and played around like usual. Besides Patrick, Beverly was the only other person that made Jade smile so much. She was glad to call Beverly her best friend!
They sat on a park bench just laughing their heads off. "Hey what time is it?" Beverly asked. Jade read the numbers on her watch. "Almost 4:30".
Beverly got off the bench. "Sorry I have to go. But I'll call you later!". She gave a tight hug to Jade. "Love you Jade!".
"Love you too Bev!".
Jade decided to go home too. She went the usual way that she did to get back to her house. And she passed Patrick's house all the time. But this time, Jade thought she would pay his mom a visit and check up on her.
Once she got on his street, she walked up the driveway and to their front door. She pressed the doorbell and the door opened a few seconds later. "Oh Jade!". Mrs. H said when she saw her. "Please come in" Jade walked inside and Mrs H closed the door.
They sat at the dining table where Jade had officially met his parents. The two sat across from each other. "How are you holding up?". Jade asked. Tears began forming in Mrs. H's eyes. "It's been really on me and his father. I was so devastated when didn't come home. Worried sick. I knew they were kids just randomly going missing but I never expected it to happen to my son". Mrs. H wipe away tears from her eye with a tissue. "I've gotten into contact with his friends and none of them have seen since before he went missing".
Jade remembered how just a few days before Patrick went missing, he came to her house and through her window of course. "Well I actually saw him a few days before he went missing. He was at my house..".
Mrs. H sniffled. "Did he say anything to you?"
"He just came to say hi and then like five minutes later he left. And he sounded his usual self".Mrs. H just sat at the table and cried. Jade felt really bad. If Jade was sad, just imagine how his parents felt. "Can I go up to his room..?". She nodded.
Jade walked up the stairs and down the hallway where his room was on the left. She opened the door knob and walked in. His scent lingered in his room. All the memories Jade had with Patrick flowed back into her head. When she spent the night that one weekend, where they sat and "studied". And how sometimes Patrick offered to walk her home or even to Beverly' house. She sat on his bed and a fear tears came out of her eyes. She wiped them away and remembered the necklace he gave that sat on her neck. She touched the silver pendant of his initial. This had to be the most cutest and kindest gift that someone has ever given her.
Jade walked out his room, closing the door behind her and walked downstairs. She walked back over to the dining room where Mrs. H still sat at. "I'm going to go now but it was great seeing you again!".
"Ok Jade, take care. And be careful!".
"I will. Thanks!".
